Yeah, there is much more Raptor specific items on the Gen1. Gen2 s are built on the same assembly line as the F150 and share a lot more than most people realize. The frames and drive train are the biggest differences really. But everything still bolts on the frame in the same locations as an F150 frame.

I know this is an older video but I have a few questions, I currently am getting all the parts needed for a swap, have gen 2 lowers, tie rod ends, and RH Fab uppers, and just bought some 2.5 coilovers, I can remove the lower mount and use spacers to mount the coilover to the raptor lowers but will the geometry be all messed up because I dont have shims or does it only matter if you use gen 1 shocks, Also i see on the parts list that he has gen 2 axle assemblies for the front, are these a direct fit, I thought I read that the raptor cv's have 1 more spline or something
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad

I’m not an expert in swaps, Scraptor in the video is and he’s very responsive over Instagram or the raptor swap group on Facebook. I do remember him holding off on any shocks for the front until he got the upper shock bucket shims because the geometry would be off. Yeah you can install it, but the suspension won’t work or cycle right without the upper shims on the top to get the shock angle right. Check with Scraptor on IG to confirm. He’s done it and helped a ton of guys do it

But you can’t just throw in Raptor shocks on the stock setup man. For one, they will not bolt in. 2nd, you won’t get the same travel numbers or be able to run 35s without ripping off the fenders. You can use G2 front stock shocks in the front on a F150 conversion you just need to space the top of the shock out. Also the springs are a little long so take 3/4 of a spring loop off and it will work just fine. I run 39s on my diesel raptor converted F150 with huge wheel travel (yes I run limit straps) and no sway bar. Side note the Diesel F150 has the raptor HD chassis with different shock towers and the crash protection brackets excluded on the raptor.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 8 ай бұрын
Dude, no you can’t. Shock will still not cycle correctly and the bypass tubes and shim stack won’t work right. Not only that but the Gen1 raptor shim stack is near impossible to get these days unless it comes with gen1 shocks. You would also need longer bolts that come with the top hat of a gen1 which won’t fit the gen2 And even if you can get it all together, the shock still won’t cycle correctly with the shorter bucket already compressing the shock. The suspension would have to droop past its limit which means a bad day on the trails in the future when it falls apart. Unless you get limit straps and well you’re not getting the full travel of the shock and then what’s the point.

Dude!! Recommending guys to shim with washers and cut the springs is a hell no for me man. Specially with how rough the trails can get down here in SoCal and Baja. But get into anything with some chop or take a jump and you breaking stuff.

Not really man. Say you start with a used truck. As most that do a Raptor swap do. Used truck is maybe 30-35k. A whole swap with take off parts and paint for fenders can run you around $5-8k. All in your at $43k and you can go play. Now before you mention a Gen1 Raptor. Those are going for over 40k now with 100k miles. Those that can barely afford a 35k truck, can’t get financed for a Gen1 because it’s high mileage. Some banks will not finance a car with over 100k miles on bad or new credit. And a Gen2 starts at $60k. So a swapped truck is a way to get into the hobby cheap and have a functional truck and have fun on a budget. It’s not perfect. But it’s gets more guys on the trails and that’s what we are all about on this channel. More good people to come play on dirt.

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad a purist? Lol no. I don’t even know what that means. Only truck I’m a purist about is the ridge line . An unbeatable machine. If this guy wants to recreate a real machine then he should base it off a ridge line. Man up and make a fridge line.

Why? Not everyone can afford a Raptor. Wheeling on a budget is ok in my book. If you don’t understand why, then maybe this channel is not for you. 🤷‍♂️

I checked with him and he will be using rivets. Not much space back there so welding is tough and rivets are the best option.
