Nice one mate! Keep up the great videos. I need to head down south for some bikepacking films!

I was about to say we shouldn't be annoyed by those things as it's part of the adventure and prepare as much as possible ! Then i remember this year , my attempt of North downs , my bags were rattling , my front bag opened and broke the screen of the mobile , my legs were not moving....so bailed for the next weekend on the first 2 hours of the ride which felt as 4 !!! 😅😅😅

Really brave Josh, I think that is the best episode so far. The filming, the content, the maps, the route selection and general discussion / content is just fab. I know what that feeling is like when you have just had enough, been there once or twice. I am also pleased that it is not just me that is able to fall off on seemingly flat ground / trail. Had plenty of those slidey falls where it just seems that the tyres have lost all their grip - all of a sudden. Fixing punctures when it is cold, damp, wet - soft hands, is just boring, with no one around just to even offer encouragement - eek! I do make myself stick a tube in, but religiously check for thorns. I think we have all put a tube in - for it just to do back down. Dull. Keep up the excellent content / videos / route selection / filming - all really, really good and inspiring. Thanks.

Yeah that slidey terrain is very common around here and lethal when hidden under the leaves. I would have had to fix the tyre to put the tube in and i really just couldent be bothered aha it felt a lot like something was saying nope for this trip.

Really nice footage, the cinematography is really excellent especially the GoPro shots. The drone stuff is good too. I’m really enjoying these as some of the lanes and tracks you ride are familiar to me or are on my list..keep em coming

Reckon you've got more than your fair share of fortitude. No shame in bailing at the time of year when only one in a million would *choose* to wild camp! Respect 👊

Thats a shame you got that flat Josh, you should have tried to fix it and continue I reckon because you were so close to the end. But all the same a lovely video with some nice sights even in the cold Winter mists:) Keep smiling:) Sandy

I had still 2/3 days of riding to go so was only really about half way into the route, After the point i bailed the next station would have been warham so i just couldn't be bothered to potentially walk miles and miles

Unfortunately the ‘shit happens’ rides just have to be forgotten and hopefully not replicated. Glad you weren’t hurt more on that front wheel slide out. The next adventure will be way better 👌🏻

Some beautiful photography on this one! The winter light has such an effect on the landscape. So you're still using the Soloist then; any thoughts on a replacement, (at some point) just that you weren't enamored with it; in your "final thoughts" post.

Thanks for the video , Sorry it didn't go to plan . I moved from 3" to 2.6" & now I use4 2.35 Vittoria Mezcal & Barzo TNT .I only chose them because a lot of people that do The Great Divide use them & they have been fantastic I can't recommend them enough .

Well done and fair play for camping at this time of the year! My winter rides are day trips only until the days get much longer. Looks like fun though.

Nice adventure, anytime out on the bike is a good time. Winter riding is a great time of year to ride, feels like you have all the trails to yourself. I would be definitely switching the tyres out before the next ride.

Nice one Josh 👍 A nice misty start to day 2 with lovely colours. No views of course but still good trails. We know the puddle at 06:22 very well, it seems to be there all year or just on the days we ride through 😂

You're a warrior Josh. I am freezing on my bike just running around town. Your extreme riding kills derailleur and chain sets and I remember has given you grief before. What's your opinion on belt and hub gears?
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I've not really used them, apart from the hub gears on them hire bikes, there probably fine though, but i really dont go through derraliers that often and they are easy to replace. The thing i go through the most is chains and brake pads
@br53802 жыл бұрын
TBH 16 hours in a tent ain’t my idea of fun, have you thought of hotel/B&B along with night riding?
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
night riding is fine and i would ride into the night but because im filming i typically try not to do too much of it. Hotels and Bnbs are just too expensive to be feasible, and i like the camping.
@br53802 жыл бұрын
@@KeepSmilingAdventures I do a lot of night riding and camping too, just not together. Too old for the hassle TBH. I do share your pain of spending good money on tyres and then not been able to trust them.

Time to sack the new tyres off? I had a big moment where I thought I was going to bin it last weekend, wet leaves, covering a big slippery roots that you could not see for leaves............. luckily on flat pedals ( as old knee problem has flared up and they seem to aggravate it less) had I been on the usual winter spd clipless boots, don't think I would have got the moto-x style "dab" that saved me.
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Definitely not getting rid of brand new tyres, tyres are silly prices nowadays, I've don't a bit of fixing, and it seems to be holding now fingers crossed, Roots are bloody scary mate
