Love the air horn! Being a professional railroader, some my coworkers and I feel that train horns should be illegal. Those that have them think it’s cute to honk them near railroaders working. Marc, I am obsessed with horn. You might say I’m a little,... well you know. I was a full time motorcyclist 1999 - 2010. It was my full time 4 season vehicle. For that reason I put a air horn on my bike; a 1999 Honda Valkyrie. Motorcycles disappear in traffic and it’s needed to get peoples attention.

I just bought an f350 and used the forescan to mod my truck. I love the ability to do some small things to make it more convenient for me as well as personalize it slightly. I turned off the double honk feature when left running, but I also enabled the secure idle so it can’t be taken out of park without a key inside the truck. I leave mine running allot with out locking the doors. It ads a LITTLE bit of security by not allowing it to be moved.

We are especially considerate when fueling our class A diesel pusher at truck stops, and are always as expeditious as we can be, but we sometimes find that the truckers in front of us in the lanes are less so. They will pull up to the pumps and leave their vehicle for several minutes (we've experienced up to a half hour), return to their truck, pump their fuel (which takes a long time because they're pumping 200 gallons or more), then pull forward and stop, as is the common courtesy at truck stops, then leave their truck again to go inside, and return to their truck and leave after another 15-20 minutes. It's almost as if they're doing it because they have an RV behind them in the lane. The problem is, there are always trucks in the same lane behind us.

The area for the key, is used to read the key if the battery in the fob dies. After using the emergency blade key in the fob to enter the truck, you place the key in the the hidden spot, which energizes the key so the vehicle can read the key and start the vehicle.

@@Anthony-qq2ue I traded it in for a 2022 f450. Loved the truck no issues whatsoever. We decided to go full time rv and I upsized my rig to a 42ft 18000lb fifth wheel. The 350 single tire was just not enough truck to comfortably pull a rig that size. It was a great truck though, I really liked the engine and Trans. The 1100ft/lbs of the 6.7 with the 10 speed is on another level though. Incredible pulling power.

@@japhethwar Very cool! We haul a 5th wheel RV for work all over the place. I use an f350 DRW with the 6.7 and 4.10 rear end probably very similar to yours pulling power wise, is the turning radius really good on the 450?
@japhethwar2 жыл бұрын
@@Anthony-qq2ue Yes it is, significantly better than the 350. The ride is a bit stiff, but the 4.30 gears and giant brakes are pretty awesome for towing. I went up the Eisenhower in Colorado which goes over 11k ft and it was barely straining the truck. It is a beast.

My approach to purchasing the 2016 F250 was the same as yours. They were discounted heavily when the 2017 aluminum body trucks were coming out. Plus most of the bugs are worked out since it is the end of the run. It came with the 3.55 gears. I only buy 4x4, we get snow and ice where I live and I like to explore once I disconnect the trailer. Made some of the mods you have shown except for air compressor/air horn. LED lights on the rear were one of the first, so nice to be able to see when backing at night. ECU updates were 6 flashes for blinker, 50 gal fuel tank, DPF percent and fogs while on high beam. Manual regen with my generation of F250 needs to be done with laptop. I think the earlier years that are XL or XLT can be done manually. Wish I could read DEF level, but it will tell you when you are below 1/2 full and when you have 500 miles left. If anyone needs the spreadsheet of changes for 2011 to 2016 I have it. Oh, don't forget the chrome muffler bearing, that's a cool mod. :-), Forgot to add that just ordered the full card a few days ago, ref KYD

Happy Holiday guys...I have a 19’ F-350 with the 6.7L diesel. I didn’t hear you mention it but in Forscan you can select Bambi mode which enables you to use the fog lights with the high beams on at night. Factory settings will turn off the fog lights when you go to your bright lights. Bambi modes allows the fog lights to stay on....there’s also a cornering light mode that will turn on just the left or just the right fog light depending on the direction you turn and then cancels the fog light once you straighten the wheel out.

Another tip on the hidden key fob holder in the console - if the battery is weak in the key fob, placing the fob it in that compartment will allow you to start the truck and drive it to the store to get a new battery for the fob! Is there a FORScan code to keep the 5th wheel camera (or any selected camera) on as you change gears from reverse to drive and back to reverse while lining up on the hitch? My biggest aggravation with the camera is that it switches back to the normal backup camera anytime I shift to drive so I have to tap the screen again to get back to the 5th wheel camera. I do agree the camera angle and lighting isn't ideal. I've made it a bit better by using 1 in white gaffer's tape- 1 strip on the hitch and 2 strips with a gap on the pin box. The contrast helps with the lighting to line up quickly.

Hi Marc, have you looked into a product called “gear vendor”? It is a gear box that bolts on to the end of your transmission (which means you will have to get your driveshaft shortened) this unit work’s similar to a big truck with a transmission with an upper and lower range. This gives each gear an upper range, a lower range, and the range that is in the transmission. This gives you the ability to go even higher or lower in your ratio. The articles that I’ve read or seen on KZbin say you will increase your fuel mileage by about 15-20%. It’s a very simple install, not counting your drive shaft needing to be shortened, this can be done in an afternoon.

I've also had the wobble only in my 17 F250. A 2005 and 2013 F250 were fine. The latest replacement steering damner corrected the issue. Be careful with changes to the steering, that will void the warranty for any future issues. I also researched other changes and have chosen not to do them due to the warranty.

I have a 2006 F-250, 6.0 Diesel, FX4, extended cab and loving it. Am also an amateur radio operator, so no desire for the sunroof (need the metal for mag-mount antennas). The rear hinged back door is useful for my other antennas.

Marc - You didn't mention adding transmission and coolant temps (actual numbers) above the gauges using FORscan? Did you forget that one or were you not interested? LOVE your videos!

The real reason for "high idle" in a diesel is to keep the fuel from washing out the cylinder heads. So you know.

Finally finished watching the airstream series. Thank you for all the information y'all have provided. I was out of my league when it came down to knowing about RVing. But the videos has informed me and helped me make my decision on saving up to get a truck and an airstream. Thank you so very much.

Just a quick FYI; there's only 2/10 inch additional clearance between the 4X2 & 4X4 versions of your truck.

3.73 is used in the heavy tow pack Expedition and I think some versions of the F150, it has the Elocker function also. My Expedition has it 3.5 Eco or boost👍. My Expedition doesn’t have as much dingers maybe Ford was thinking work boot guys need reminders 😆. The 3.73 is pretty decent with the 10spd though I could see the 6 or 8 spds getting a bit wound up on the highway when not towing. But 3.73 with the 10spd the little 3.5 lopes along at 75-80 at pretty low rpm. I recall with the Exp the 3.73 vs 3.31 was only 1-2mpg difference on the sticker👍

Thanks for the hint about finding the factory door keypad code. I just bought a 2017 F350 and needed to find the factory code. Worked like a charm. Looking forward to starting our adventure later this year and getting out on the road for the first time. Your videos have been so helpful and entertaining. Thanks for all you do.

Just some input.....with ForScan, it's best to use a wired OBD2 interface (one with switch required for ForScan functions). Some have problems with interference and misloading the changes when doing wireless. I had both and felt way more comfortable and seemed quicker wired. Hope this helps!

It's important to mention that many of the features mentioned are not available on all Super Duty Ford's. Marc has the high model. There are different camera options and various other options based on if you have an XL, XLT, etc. The most options on the Platinum. No tool will allow you to modify or create options that don't exist. Good video. You will want to do more research before you drive in head first.

Always wipe off the end of the diesel nozzle before you put it in your tank! I keep a rag specifically for that!
