Tulum and Akumal have the best beaches! A lot of very eco friendly adult only hotels out there. Akumal has the same water but with white sand and has the best spots to snorkel, like ridiculous! We got a picture of my husband following a huge sea turtle and it turned out there were two baby sharks swimming under the turtle! So crazy!

Man, that whole area has changed since I went there back in 1995. I lived and worked in Cozumel, Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. Back then Playa was about 2 blocks deep and a few miles long past the ferry and Señor Frogs. (The touristy part) There was only one americanized business (Dominos Pizza) and the beach was all topless. Playa Del Carmen and all the small towns were the European spots and Cancun (Little Miami, as they called it) and Cozumel were more American. There has been a LOT of tourist induced progress since then. Looks like it still has the wonderful charm it did back then. I need to bring my wife down there! :)

Spent one night there the first week of Dec 2017- I am so sorry that I didn't watch this vid until today-- missed out on trying the Bienvenido drink:( But I did have muchas margaritas which were Amazing! We stayed in one of the bungalows on the beach- Waking up 20 feet from and to the sounds and views of the beach were awesome

I was there 2 years ago, I love Tulum! The Mayans were extremely intelligent. Plus, as a side note, it's so unbelievably hot I cannot believe they actually lived there. You need to plan on how to cool off when you visit even. Great video!

Yikes Tulum has really changed since 08!! Looks like Cancun...lol. Plya del carmin was always a fav of mine last there in 15. And the walk or get a bike ride I commented on last time was in the ruins at Cob'a not in Tulum:). Great video, have a huge soft spot for Mexico:)

If you guys want, I can email you my Europe itinerary. It has thousands of attractions, with the best museums, most famous castles, archaeological parks, caves, waterfalls, gorges, etc..... It's pretty much everything that is fun to do, in 42 countries. The only ones that I won't go are Iceland, Armenia, Moldova and Cyprus (maybe). Way too much to list here. Also, lots of campgrounds marked, but not in every country, because they're everywhere, and it would take too much time to mark everything. It's just easier to find one near the attractions when I get there. It's everything in a Google Earth .kmz file. Let me know, and I'll send you and tell you a little more about my Europe trip (toy hauler with Harleys).

I was surprised you were drinking drinks with water & ice in it in Mexico. I've always been told to never do that in Mexico because of getting Montezuma's revenge . Did it affect ya's that way at all ? I've been to the Mayan Ruins @ Tulum along time ago. Did you know on one side is the Atlantic Ocean & the other side is the Pacific Ocean ?

We never did in the past, but areas that are setup for tourist have all filtered ice. Tulum especially. Even the time we spend in local towns in PV, the water truck was showing up and dropping off filtered water and ice. Good point about the oceans!

We should have mentioned it. Yes, Tulum was almost US prices. Slightly less. Playa Del Carmen and the more local towns were better for non touristy prices such as our 110 pesos for the chick lunch in the prev episode
