hello...I'm a student studying in 8th grade. When I was writing my final exam for social, we had a question "Why is Akbar called Akbar the great? Justify your statment". What I was expected to quite is exactly what was given in our classwork or textbook. But instead, I gave an answer very similar to what you have said in this video. For saying that he is not worthy of that title, I didn't get marks for that particular question. I asked my teacher why, and she scoled me. Unforyunately this is the reality of our present day schools.

There is a humble request for all. Please try to understand that, if a person is Hundu or Muslim it doesn't matter, the matter depends on the heart and what they gave to the world. Akbar gave good as well as bad. It doesn't mean he is supreme due to his good doing and not the devil due to his bad doing. And primarily it's about a person ( a single living human being), not the religion. So there is nothing to do with Hindus and Muslims. Don't make it a religious issue. Unlike Hindu marriage, which is considered to be building a Caste - Gotra relationship between two families -- there by they conduct lots of pre nuptial rituals like feuneral of ancestors -- Tarpana, Shraddha, then Pooja of the clan deity , Pooja of land ( vastu), Pooja of main Hindu gods -- Lord Vishnu etc etc -- so it had been elaborate customs -- Muslim marriages are just contract between 2 person -- a legal formality only. All the extravaganza that we observe now a days around a Muslim marriage, had actually rooted to the family's caste/ clan roots , infact often being severely criticised by ulemas as anti - Islamic. So it was quite obvious that none of Akbar's marriages ( even with Turk or Ujbek ladies) too were never ceremony or worthy of being mentioned. 2. In those age , accessibility to imperial Harem for any man other than emperor himself was practically impossible and a capital punishment for the violator. Hence the emperor's concubines were always been very very private. Turks and Timurids have strict customs to entirely separate their ladies from any public & state affairs or interference. So it was obvious the empress ( Malika - e - Hindustan) was just a honorary title to get all the best privileges within Harem -- like best of foods, ornaments, slaves and maids, best of the chembers, medicines , health care etc. But beyond that they were sanned from any state affair. Hence the courtiers could not write about her. In fact if they would shown any interest about the empress , they would have put their own lives into dangers. This customs was not exclusive to Turks or Timurids. Even for Hindu king's concubines too used to be put under equal restrictions in those days. It was completely unfair to expect an mediaeval empire to behave like a modern day's liberal woke guy.

I can be wrong about this. 8:29 He plundered cities that he conquered right? Many rulers of Ancient India had followed the policy of conquest and expansion. Benefit of jizya(protection tax) : 1. Jizya payers won't be forced to participate in war or be needed to join the war. 2. He can live with his family peacefully in the land. 3. Muslim's will establish his and his families right to practice own religion. 4. Muslims will protect his property. 5. No need to pay zakat tax that is paid by muslims as charity.(Zakat can be > Jizya) 6. Muslims will protect jizya payers, with even own life on the line durning war. 7. He can follow laws of own religion unless it's extrimism. [ like burning wife alive with dead husband . or burying of daughter alive. etc.] 8. Woman, children, old man and woman, poor man and woman. If you think this is bad, most Indian kings have also done the same things as Akbar had. The invasion of Cholas to Sri Lanka also led to violence against civilians, even the Marathas are remembered in bengal for the pluinder their mercenaries did. The essence of upanishads is not polytheism. It is actually oneness. In fact , the main essence of it is "aham brahmasmi" , that one individual can realize Brahman , the universal consciousness. In that aspect, what Akbar was trying to do is not too much different from the text. Although, the ego is the one driving that which is completely against the upanishads.

Very disappointing narrative. I mean in that scale who was a great King ( kindly don't bring hindu mythology in History). Even rajput kings too have 100 s of concubines . Rana Pratap himself had many wives and he too fought and killed many of his brothers in succession struggle. Chittore had put up extremely stubborn resistance -- not that they had a very prosperous fort or skilled soldiers. Only point was the area ( central Rajputana) was extremely difficult terrain and chittor situated there -- the fort dweller s had enormous battle advantages over any seige. And every King was invaders.

They completely annihilated Sudra culture, imposed severe social restrictions, denied minimum human rights to them. Rajput fiefdoms were just group of querreling Casteist clans. They never vived for a consolidated, deciplined State -- rather always wanted to have pockets of own fiefdoms . This was exactly the problem Akbar faced. Because he wanted a consolidated Indic empire. But this mewar was just an obnoxious separatist fiefdom -- neither did they accept any political truce or vesaalage with Mughal Empire nor they themselves were interested in building a united Rajputana empire with whom at least the Mughals would have come to a rational treaty with their strength!! Instead they were always a kind of miscreants -- the separatists from all part of the empire used to take refuge in Mewar ( not only local Rajput fiefs, even Afghan and Seljuks too who were bigger enemies to Timurids. Akbar faced lot of difficulty in managing this affair and couldn't concentrate on North West possible attacks from Afghans and Seljuks of Iran / Ujbekistan. Hence he decided to crush mewar once and for all. *Forget Mughals , even Maratha empire also had to fight and devastate the Rajput fiefdom far more than any Muslim kingdom* !!!

While we may eulogize for their love-saga through this fictional dramas, the actual truth lies in historical facts which has "no" mention of Jodha...If at all there is any claim of his favorite wife then it is Empress Ruqaiya Sultan Begum, a cousin whom he married at the age of 15.We have been taught that Akbar was a great Mughal Emperor but in reality as per written in the historical books it is totally opposite.
