Kefs are overpriced. Plus an extra 10% for the grilles! Bronze 2 is the outright winner. Bought it, love it! Great bang for the buck. Excellent taut bass and rich and smooth mids and highs. Definitely a very well balanced speaker. Good looking and well finished too, beautiful terminals. For better, you'd have to spend a lot more! Strongly recommend this speaker!

@@peggenlejoncar9529 the kefs are more realistic in the highs, if ever heard a real instrument being played, and the bass is much tighter not as convincing as the highs but still better than the bronzes which sound boomy and unnatural.

Excellent comparison, the Kef's seem ever so slightly more forwardd but sound thinner somehow, the Bronzes seem to have more weight. I have a pair of the Bronze 2s and was seriously considering a pair of LS50s as they can be picked up for around £500. However, listening to this on headphones ( I know there are limitations over KZbin) not the same as a live audition , I don't think the difference is significant enough to bother. Wait until the LS50 Metas come down in price! 😁

I got these Monitor Audio Bronze 2's as surround channels in my 5.1 surround system about 4 years ago, paid like $310 for the pair bc they were on sale. Works very well with my Audiovector Ki3 Signature line-up as L, C & R speakers. I can actually hear bass coming from the sides & and behind me (even though the B2's aren't behind me by more than 10-12 cm.)

The KEFs are just over 3 times the price of the Monitor Bronze 2, you have to take that into account when deciding the winner. And it's very close... you have to hear it.

Apu Sista The on sale price for a pair of LS50s in Canada right now ($685 US) is only about $150 US more that the Bronze 2. For me the LS50s are a much better value and better performance for a little more money. I only paid $2755 US for a pair of new Kef R900s and those weren't even on sale, I just low balled for that price. I bought 2 pairs of Polk RTi a9s on boxing day sale for only $1150 US for 4 speakers. I bought a pair of Q100s for $228 US. I think it would be difficult to find a better speaker in the $200 range. All these speakers were brand new (no open boxes).

@@gordthor5351 Yes, if that price difference doesn't bother you the LS50 is definitely better than the MA Bronze II. In India however, MA is very reasonably priced and KEF is very expensive. I ended up with an older MA Silver model and it sounds MUCH better than the LS50!

@Damir DEBEVC Wow, that is a big difference. The prices sure differ all over the world and not in a logical manner. How can they ship speakers across the ocean to Canada and sell them cheaper? I got all of my Kef speakers on sale because the new models were coming out for all 3 lines of Kef speakers (Q and R series and LS50s).

It's a bit unfair competition given the Audio Bronze 2 cost 375€ and KEF LS50 900€. If you in the market for bookshelf speakers both of them have been awarded 5 stars at What Hi-Fi? so you don't go wrong here either way.Are you in the budget get Audio Bronze and have 500€ to spend in other gear[ stands,amp.dac] etc.

LS50 has fuller bass and midrange, more slam too, but they are also more difficult to drive. Heard LS50W and I can tell you they sound stunning, you don't have to worry about the proper amp either.

Would look more at R300 or R3 - New MA Silver 300 for a significant upgrade - there’s plenty o lightly used ex demos around the £500 mark and they are a different animal regards sound staging and clarity/ fullness - again make will be your own preference but I have bronzes now and have heard both the above suggestions chalk and cheese - and won’t break the bank (too much!)

First: thank you for doing this sound demo and uploading. It takes work to do them. I would encourage you to give us your thoughts on the difference in sound and which one you think sounds better as you are hearing the speakers and not us so much...The Kef LS50's seem to have been caught by many different lower cost speakers now. That is my impression.

Hi, short answer would be that I kept using LS50. :) A bit longer that LS50 sounds fuller and punchier (you can probably hear some of it in the video). Aside from that it creates more sound-stage depth and space around instruments (no recording will ever catch things like that). When you combine these it's just more lifelike sounding or higher fidelity if you will. It does need a very good system backing it to show it though. I'll consider adding my short impressions at the end of such videos since I don't want to bias anyone's opinion before watching it.

The MA sound "wider".. if you can tell that with recordings on KZbin.. Like all have said the MA sound less in your face with upper mids and trebels.. both are very revealing however.. just the KEFs are a bit more up front. I own the MA Bronze 2 and love them.. but based SOLEY on this video I think I like the LS50 better.. just in this video.. not sure about IRL.

I've had the Bronze 2s for a while now and I found you can change their tonality by changing the wire gauge you run between the speaker and the amp. My wire length has been at a constant 2,5 metres (~8 feet) and went from a cross section of 2,5mm^2 (AWG 14), to 4mm^2 (AWG 12) and, finally, settling at 6mm^2 (AWG 10), el cheapo, off-the-shelf OFC wire, nothing fancy. The sound has more body and maintains the speaker's airy characteristics.

Yeah , I got the same speakers. I'm running 2.5mm 10 gauge, and it's very noticeable from 16 gauge. Great speaker , upgrading to second-hand 300-pound speaker will not gain me gain . So, at the moment, I trying the b2 . I also have the 5.1 full set tannoy mercy f1 for my cinema set up and the b2 for fromts as it 7.1 set up . That's where the magic starts :) .

@@NaveenKumar-uh2gk Yeah, it's possible to sound bassier with a smaller driver... the price is paid with lower sensitivity and a need for a more powerful amp. I haven't heard Mety yet so can't compare them. When it comes to needing a sub. If you're a fan of electronica or other types of music with a lot of sub-bass notes... or if you plan to use them for movies to feel earth-shaking with special effects... then a sub is desirable. But for everything else, LS50 actually offers a surprising amount of bass... affordable speakers of similar size usually sound much more anemic.

Wow on my sony MDR-1R headphones (they won some award back in the day) the bass sounds much better on the Bronze Monitors. The guitars are a little less realistic and I know it will be different to reality.

Bronze 2 audio monitor - they are quite good because they handle very high volume with average sound. Stereo imaging is very weak. For the price of 350, - They are quite good :) KEF LS50 - The sound is very bad due to the price! There are much better speakers at this price! You'd better combine another brand of speakers.

Funny how everyone in the comments is reviewing these speakers through their speaker! Which I'm guessing is a phone. The only way to review any speaker is to stand in front of them yourself. This is no different from watching Top Gear and decided how the car drives by watching someone else drive it. Those speakers sound so good through my phone, I don't need to buy any of them. My phone speaker is awesome.

I have the KEF Q150s and even I can tell the difference between these speakers and the q150s are not near as good as the LS50s. Hear them in real life befor you tell whats better. The LS50 aren't "real" monitor speakers. More like HiFi that will play very neutral. But you can use the LS50 as monitor speakers just fine. Even the R3s which are even better cause the 3 Way setup.
