@@KegLand haha nah I'm in Australia, just had no need for it until recently. Finally started pressure fermenting. Completed my first experimental batch this week. Just put it in the Kegerator tonight to cold crash. I put a post up about it on the FB group. The beer is a basic pale style malt bill, but I used tangelo juice as well. A second experiment that needed to be done at the time of brewing so I killed two birds with one fermenter. 🍻

Another great review and timely as well. I must admit I have a conceited approach for things metal and shiny with a disdain for plastic. That being said after watching a video on kegland I made the tough choice of plastic. I have not used it yet but grateful for the timing of your review as well as confirming I made the right craft choice even if the aesthetics hurt my sensibilities a bit. Keep up the awesome work!

I would like to regulate the pressure on my closed conical fermenter during fermentation but am not inclined to use CO2 tanks (for various reasons,ie. bottling, slow drinking etc), other than manual release. Any suggestions?

Hi! I wanna know if the last piece of tube its compulsory (the one that is on the glass of water). Because i have get one and i do not have the last part and nothing happens when i release the screw.

No you do not need that last piece of tube. Its really not necessary but just gives you a visual indication of the gas flow speed.

I've used the BlowTie2 for 3 batches now and noticed an anomaly. Set pressure at 12 PSI and it holds nicely for about 3 days with good bubble action, then pressure will start to rise (15psi+) so I have to back off the regulator. After another 5-7 days, the pressure will start to drop and I have to adjust the regulator again. No krausen making it to the BlowTie.

The blowtie is designed with an orifice of 2.3mm diameter. If the flow rate is too high with an active yeast the pressure can exceed the capacity of this 2.3mm diameter hole and you will temporarily get a pressure increase. We are also looking at making another larger orifice model that will allow for higher gas flow rates too.

Does blowtie acts as a check valve or do I need to close it to avoid suckback when cold-crashing?

Yes it will prevent gas flowing in the opposite direction unless you have it completely open. When it's completely open the gas can flow in both directions.

The analog pressure gauge ( spunding valve kit) drop from 30 cm... Not Connected shows 10 psi. Hot to reset it?

You need to take apart the gauge to reset it. Sounds like it's jumped a few teeth on the drive cog.

On this assembly we use the flare QD but you can still use the barb if you really like.

I'm having an issue with the gauge not reading any pressure when I know there is. Is there a certain way you have to attach it? I've currently set it up just like in the video and pushed the gauge all the way in to the T junction.

Can you please email us some photos so we can better understand how you have it setup. Also if the pressure is really low less than 2psi this might be too low for the needle to move.

The action of the pressure on the vavle which pushes against the spring, shortens the spring and increases its pressure of course. Wheter that is enough to balance the increased surface area of the seal point is another matter. Maybe it is designed to do that?

This is a great little low-cost piece of equipment, but I notice now that the kit sold comes with a pressure gauge that only goes to 15psi, not the 40psi shown in the video. 15psi is not enough to check my naturally carbonating keg at room temp.

Yes that is a fair point. We did change to the 15psi gauge as this gives more accuracy at the low end of the scale. We can consider going back to the 40psi one but then you get much less accuracy sub 10psi.

So I just opened my Blow-Tie setup and the gauge is reading on 5 psi NOT 0 psi.... I came here to view the video on how to set up and see that the gauge in video is at 0 psi and no mention on how to calibrate it to 0 psi. Anyone else have this issue???

If this has happened to the gauge then the only way I know of calebrating it is to pull off the needle from the gauge then push it back on in the zero position. If your gauage is not reading zero when you have nothing connected it's probably been dropped or over-pressurised. Either way we would normally just replace the gauge but I have seen people fix them too if you are that way inclined.

put some food grade grease on the gauge connector before (compatible with EPDM). It will help for disassembling...

That's actually one of the things that piss me off about beer making . What the hell is it with all these new stupid names for old technology. It's an adjustable pressure relief valve. It's not a blowtie or blowjob or skank grommet or blow off. It's an adjustable pressure relief valve. Both my portable and shop compressor have them stock so I can control line pressure for air tools. Everybody is making up all these stupid names and it simply makes things harder to find and impossible to shop and compare cause stupid names don't show up in relevant searches. In 10 years the beer making community went from people just making beer and trying to help each other out to instead be like a fad of valley surfers or skate boarders more interested in creating a new slang language then they are in helping the community.
