Unreal performance from Kei. When he's locked in, his groundstrokes are a treat to watch; lethally fast, flat and precise with fantastic reaction times and redirection off both wings.

As an Asian, i have to admit that there wont be another Kei in the next 10-20 years. I mean what he has done during his peak was impeccable, he has probably played at his best level during 2014-2016. The following years saw injury left him behind the rise of next Gen and stability of Big 3. Nevertheless, he deserved at least one slam!

Gotta disagree with that, Tennis is still mostly a popular sport in the west and not so much in the east. With the sport gaining traction now in Asia, the likes of Kei, Li Na, Chung Hyeon etc making it at the top. Its only a matter of time more and more Asian players will rise up to the stage. After all, there are way more population of Asian people than there are in anywhere else in the world, technically based on the law of large numbers, there should be more talent and chances for Asian players to make it big.

@krishnasaichalasani44923 жыл бұрын
There are better matches out there like Djokovic vs Nadal 2012 AO Final. That match is the greatest match I've ever seen.
It's crazy, how looking at these two playing across from each other, how much they resemble each other's game. Like Djokovic literally just looks like a taller version of Nishikori.
@Agent-hh2kk Жыл бұрын
It's the same with RBA they both have a similar baseline playstyle with Djokovic with the exception that Novak is more clutch and better at serving. When RBA and kei can keep up with Novak on the baseline, Novak outserves them. When players can keep up on serve with Novak he usually outrallys them.

There was definitely something wrong with Djokovic here but take nothing away from Kei who played a brilliant match. It's a shame he couldn't go all the way to win the title. It was his best chance at winning a grand slam.
@DandanGallagher3 жыл бұрын
All in all, no, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Djokovic. He was doing everything he always does. The thing is, sometimes, you meet someone who is absolutely on the zone and no matter what you do, you will be beaten. Nishikori was absolutely FLAWLESS in that SF but then again that's the kind of tennis you have to play to beat the best ever. Djokovic had no answer to Kei's thunderous return winners which were like a mirror to Djokovic's own. Nishikori was as fit as ever and was absolutely anywhere and everywhere covering the court efficiently. Add to that the absolute ridiculous power and precision the Japanese had when hitting the ball down the line and crosscourt giving Djokovic no chance. He moved Djokovic very well but he also could finish the points. Djokovic clearly couldn't adapt to Kei's game. You can see how powerful were Djokovic's serves and still Nishikori hit winner after winner in the return. That is the exact moment you realize you are helpless because Djokovic is supposed to be the one neutralizing powerful servebots. All in all, Nishikori probably played the best match of his life and deserves every ounce of respect he got out of that. Make no mistake. Again, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Djokovic. He lost because Nishikori played next to perfect tennis. Stunning performance.
@TheFlygonproductions Жыл бұрын
@@DandanGallagherAbsolutely everything you've said there I agree with. I can't help but feel there are some overzealous Djokovic fans in this comment section who probably still to this day are in disbelief of how he lost this match. It's maybe a feature of Queens New York dialect, they drop the initial 'h' in words, such as 'huge' (an example is Donald Trump), so it may also be applied to 'historic'. As a matter of fact, Flushing Meadows is located in Queens. Or it's just a mistake..
