Keighley and Worth Valley Railway - Oakworth Station

This Bank Holiday weekend the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) hosted a series of special events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 1970 film adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel "The Railway Children": amzn.to/3zuaBsI
The timeless 1970 masterpiece, starring a young Jenny Agutter as lead character Roberta "Bobbie" Waterbury, was filmed on the railway. Much of it was centred around Oakworth Station, where Albert Perks, played by Bernard Cribbins, was the porter.
My footage begins with local school children re-enacting a scene from the film where they stop a train from running into a landslide by frantically waving torn up red petticoats at the approaching locomotive.
We see several steam-hauled trains passing through the station, either heading towards the railway's southern terminus at Oxenhope or northern terminus at Keighley.

We also see the modern day Perks the porter operating the station's manual gate level crossing and protecting signals.
A film crew was also present at Oakworth Station. They were collecting footage for a documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary.

Hello Tom good footage of Big Jim and the 4F,Oakworth is a nice station and quite famous. Good to see you yesterday although only briefly hope we meet again somewhere on the line or a station.I like the KWVR I and have a cousin who has been with the Worth Valley for around 50 years and works with carriage restoration at Oxenhope.
