I love the fact you made a mistakes along the way. In the real world, first few times you take someone apart and put together mistakes made. Seeing your mistakes along the way highlight what we need to be careful doing, thanks

That was all super helpful. I have a KLR250 project bike and went through much the same thing.

No need to take the sub frame off. if you take of the coolant resivour you can slot the carb through the frame with airbox and subframe still in place. Fit the Carb to the engine side then use a hairdryer to soften up the rubber on the airbox side and use a little water as lube and fits on.

You dont need to remove anything. I just did mine today. Thats why that hose is rubber its flexable.
@Vjiovino11 ай бұрын
Just remove the muffler then remove the upper Allen bolt from the subframe then it will swing down and away from carb .. lots of room to work on carb
@hrkarlhungus7 ай бұрын
@@habibiranch can you elaborate a bit? Curious what you mean by not having to tear apart. Thank you

Thanks mate. Very helpful. It made life easy to get the carb off & clean the air box. I also added a spring stiffener while I had the room as it's gotten a bit soggy over time.I used a hair dryer on the air box end of the rubber boot after clamping it to the carb & it popped in easy. Cheers Rod...

It's alive! My first bike was a KZ100. I ran that around trails behind my house when I was a kid. I beat that thing into splinters and sawdust. What a fun bike. Too bad about the choke cable, but sometimes that happens. Bike sounded pretty good when you drove past the camera.

Really helpful series of videos, I've been having similar problems with my bike and the foam in the airbox looks like the culprit for me too. Thanks for tipping me off. It's a bit fiddly but I found it possible to remove and refit the carb without removing the subframe. Soaking the airbox rubber in hot water makes it easier to refit

Interesting trick with the hot water....I'll have to keep that in mind for the future. I'm glad you enjoyed my videos, thanks for letting me know!

Good job, and thanks for the video. I have the same carb on my Arctic Cat 500, w/ a Suzuki motor. My god the carb was loaded with junk. Sadly I don’t think you can get a kit for these anymore but looks like you didn’t need one.
@2StrokeSmoke5442 жыл бұрын
They still sell rebuild kits on ebay for these bikes.. theres a company 6sigma that sells a jet kit and instructions to do work to the exhaust and air intake box, really makes these a different machine! Opens it up big time, Lots more power!! Just did it on my 2001’ klr 250. No joke its awesome the power gain!

Thanks man. I've got a 2001 250 and I'm ripping into the carb tomorrow. Quick question, did you ever experience your cooling fan or temp switch go haywire?

Getting the carburetor on and off is easy. Getting the rear boot on and off is a pain in the butt. Don't screw up the rear boot,be careful with it. Kawasaki stopped making them and finding a good used one is nearly impossible. I guess you could maybe use a peice of radiator hose from a car or something?

Please help ! Hi. Great video. I'm missing the throttle connector that comes up high on the carb and The choke plunger ...can't seem to find out where I can get these parts

I would try eBay. You might have to buy a used carb and strip it for parts

Where can you buy this carb from specifically the correct one? I've had trouble with ones I've ordered being slightly wrong

Hey so my 250 starts and runs when you handle the throttle but won't idle. I pulled my carb and cleaned it out but still nothing changes but while I had it apart I noticed that the diaphragm was stretched or a bit oversized should that effect my idle?
@SevenFortyOne4 жыл бұрын
It might.. also check your mixture screw and idle settings. And be sure you got ALL of the junk out of the passages

There was no reason for you to remove anything. That's why that intake hose is rubber. Its flexible. I took it out first and the carb came out like butter. I just replaced mine today. Your video almost ruined my day if i was dumb but i ain't. Next time you try to post up helpful info, make sure you know what your talking about. Help us out and delete this dumb video.
