Absolutely love it!!! I road one for the Marine Corps from 1989 to 1991. Got to ride it in Desert Storm. I was with MSSG-11 but during the war we where upgraded to BSSG-5. My time getting trained to ride it in Camp Pendleton was one the best highlights of my time in the Marines. Semper Fi

I always thought you guys had the Diesel KLR 650's in those days but the uploader says it's the other way around? Damn, 250 4t is like a 125 2t. Very interesting nontheless and glad you had fun!

Right on man, you're the only other person who is doing a KLR in the same spirit as I am doing mine right now. I'm doing tan plastics with matte black everywhere else, including the frame. I love the manual winch and machete idea. Those handguards actually look nice for once, and the interior mirrors are clutch! Heavy Duty skid plate is nicccce. I'm not sure how I feel about permanently having a couple gallons of fix-a-flat in my tires lol, but maybe you're on to something here. Mesh guard on the headlight and tail light is a good idea. Would you mind telling me where you found any of the items that you did not make yourself? Like the handguards, possibly the light mesh guards, the manual winch, anything like that.

Hey man that’s a pretty sick build. Was curious where to get those hand guards??? Makes me more proud of mine. I got one for like 1500 with 1200 miles on it, just broke in really.

cool bike. please swap out your front tire, it causes wash outs. The knobs are all inline. If you ride that in mud your front end will come out from under you. Seriously... If you just street ride - you're good. If you want good knobs for dirt, you want them stepped.

Did the REAL Military KLR250's have Electric Start? I've never even HAD a battery in mine I don't think but it's as useless as the entire bike since there's no electric start. I do love my ol POS KLR tho =D

The cages around the head/tail light are spotlight guards that I cut and adapted to fit the bike!

Marines do not put flags on the Klr.

thats correct because it violate the uniform code laws and more specifically the set of uniform code laws for the flag alone and there are a lot of them. but especially not on a motorcycle or dirt bike even more so since it is likely to fall and scratch and contaminate the banner.
