Yeah but still you didn't acted preety well around them, first of all you should have tasted his "mic" because refusing it's seen offensive and like you are somehow better then them. Not giving them chas was ok, but for a small amount it will be seen like a nice thing giving them like 20 lei and tell them to share. But make sure you only take 20 lei out of your poket, you don' t want them to see you with lot's of cash. And tips to know on the future, when you get to know new people don't always let them to lead the conversations(especially with gypsies) instead, try to ask them about how living in Romania is, get to know them, give them the chanse to speak about themselves, this will guarantee you a great conversation with anybody anywhere.

Your Romanian is impressive! Congrats! I've read your mission statement on the about tab and I find it very intriguing and adventurous. I look forward to the rest you've prepared. Though I can't help but think why Romanian out of all the European languages? We aren't that well known, and when we are, I think it's usually in a negative way. What was your thought process in picking this language?
@keikeikeiland4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Neculai! I really appreciate it. I can't wait to share the rest either;) As for why I chose to learn Romanian, well I stumbled upon a Romanian TV channel a few years ago (TVR) and I was inexplicably drawn to the beauty of its sounds (to phrase it in a cheesy way: I fell in love with the language). And of course once you get interested in a language you inevitably get interested in the people that created it, the culture etc.
@ionelghiorghita6882 жыл бұрын
@@keikeikeiland you just remembered me about a video seen few days ago with a story of a romanian actor and militant for the romanian national identity, Dan Puric, about some tourists from Japan, few years ago, some were in Europe, looking to some romanians workers speaking and after a while one of the romanians asked them if he can help. One Japanese lady answered : no thanks, we was just listening such a beautiful language, seems to be not from the earth! To be honest I had some doubts about the authenticity of the story but not because I don't value our language but because in this kind of stories people tend to exaggerate even just a bit. I think that more than the sound of the romanian language are the roots of the words, many of them very old and having a deep meaning. It's very similar with the traditional clothes swings patterns which are not the roses from the Russians carpets but very old stylized symbols. In any cultural evolution first step is the reproduction of the reality (as in the Greek and roman art which are pretty new historically comparing with the Thracians culture) and much later the art turn to stylize the most important meaningful of them. Thanks for what you are doing. We, the romanians, need an external view to make us to understand where we are in the world after a long campaign of denigration trying to turn us into a victim of the interest of the powers around us. I also believe that it's still a fight to destroy all the old significant cultures in terms of keeping just a single relevant culture of the people leading the world today.

Just fyi that dude lived in Russia in its worst period and is like 6'4" tall, imposing. I have a bit of a bone to pick with KZbinrs like you that like to go to these still developing countries and show just the worst parts about them. You know, I was watching the other day a KZbinr who was livestreaming in London, he approached a group of kids of similar age to this one to say hello and they almost stabbed him (brandished a knife and made him shut off the camera). Worse things can happen anywhere. It is NOT a good idea to approach young teens in ghettos with a camera when you look soft and about the same age as them no matter the country. I understand your fascination, but you're lucky that they were kids and not 4-5 years older.

Hello there, I couldn't not stop by and leave a comment on this video, I don't comment much on YT but in this case I really wanted to make an exception. First, when you stopped talking to those kids I felt very uneasy and cringed a lot for the situation you got yourself in. Second, although politically incorrect, those kids are gee psies, originally from the region of Punjab, North India I can't even write the word since KZbin might delete my comment. I guess the Romanian society failed them enormously, integration was never something to achieve for them and this is the result, not to mention their difficult past, they used to be $ laves until 1850's and dislike everyone that isn't a rroma like themselves....not a good reason to behave like that though, what I saw was closer to what animals in the jungle would do, not human beings. Third, I don't see any solution about this problem any time soon, there is a lot of friction between the ethnic Romanians and the Rromas, and it's been like that for many years, other countries like Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Spain also have this delightful minority and they also struggle with them. It is the way it is, I know this video is old and you're probably in a better place but stay safe, good bye.
