I've had a dog all my life (several of course) but when the last one died, we didn't get another, because I can no longer care for a pet properly (due to my deteriorting physical health) so it wouldn't be fair on a dog. I'd love another dog, but I believe in "responsible dog ownership" and, as I can no longer provide that, it would be wrong to do so. However, one of our dear neighbours has a little dog, who often visits my dear husband and me, and is 'welcomed' inside with her human mum.
