See, the problem is that elections aren't meant to be a popularity contest. You're voting for their policies, not an individual. People seem to have forgotten this over the years, which is why we've been stuck with the bleedin' Tories for so long. Historically, we've always performed better under Labour governments while Tories have been full of austerity, corruption and dare I say it "Brexit". Whether that continues with this Labour govt remains to be seen, but anything is better than the conservatives at this point. They've already done enough damage.

@@Crystan the countries not historically donr better under labour. I am curious to see how it goes this time. But usually there is a bump in people's happiness. But unfortunately that is usually short lasting because it's usually caused from reckless spending/borrowing. Every time labour has been in the country has gotten worse debt. Once the the debt gets bad enough Conservatives get back in. The tax the life out of us to pay back a small part of the debt. Neither party is worth voting for

He can do worse and will. The Tory's are terrible but he is worse. People are just voting labour, as they are tired if the Tory's - that doesn't mean labour will be any better. Starmer was part of the Haldane society which had sympathies with the former soviet union. This party is very hard left.

"Serving every person of this country". I really hope Starmer will govern from the middle, where the silent majority ist. He came to power with the resistance of the left. So he has the mandate to govern from the middle. He has to concentrate on the big policies that affect the whole country (politics for the many) and put less attention to the fringe issues and culture wars of the left and of the right. Let's hope for a prosperous and just country 🙏🙏🙏
