Keisha Charmaine Well, all I used to start the comb twists was a water and conditioner mix. If you look at my videos, he has a loose texture already, so the locs have been unraveling since day one. Currently broke, so I couldn't go out and buy 'proper' loc products yet. lol

Keisha, you are beautiful and funny. I just wanted to share with something regarding moisturizing your locs. Moisturizing your locs is so important especially during winter. I have always used glycerin vegetable, which is colorless, and odorless. I mix equal parts water and glycerin vegetable and spray ONLY my scalp and the new growth before I start locking the new growth using interlocking 4 way. I've been complemented in how beautiful my locs are. Learning your hair is critical. My hair drys very quickly, hence the need to use glycerin and water to retain the moisture. Cheers!

@mevans1212

You and your hair looks fantastic. I'm about 7 years into my dreadlock journey. I've kept the coloring of my locs within the black family - blue black and jet black. I soo want to go lighter. I remember in one of your video's you stated that you color gradually by spacing out one color to the next. At this stage with your experience, what would be your approach to self coloring from such a dark color?
@KeishaCharmaine
@KeishaCharmaine 9 жыл бұрын
M Evans I never used black dye. I am told that you cannot go from black to light using my gradual method and that bleach is needed. I recommend that you go to a professional for assistance.

Hi! I'm in the teenage stage and I've bought a couple of your loc socks. They are beautiful and a great way to prevent or to maintain frizz. I'm 5 months and I feel like I'm in the teenage stage because I can wash my hair without 95% of it unraveling. My question is about these little balls that I get on the ends of my locs. Should I pull them off or do they need to stay as part of the Loc? Sometimes they're just hanging off by a thread
@mndegrassi8
@mndegrassi8 5 жыл бұрын
Keep them. Apparently it's what helps the ends to seal. Some might get pulled off from manipulation and that's fine, just don't pull them off yourself

So true I've only had my locs for about 2 months but it seems when I wash it gets better. Water is best for locs in my opinion because even though I've had mine for a short period they seem to be in the teenage stage. By my fourth month I'll probably be locked

Hi Keisha! I am approaching week two of my baby locs that I started with two strand twists. In my research, I am seeing that a lot of people recommend retesting clock-wise, but I am finding that when the person who started my hair did them, she twisted some of them in different directions, so some of them would technically unravel if I started twisting them to the right. Should I just take the twists out and retest them, or just wait until they start to bud to start twisting all of them in the same direction?
@KeishaCharmaine
@KeishaCharmaine 9 жыл бұрын
you can do either of the two options you stated or twist each individual loc in the direction it naturally twists. that can be a pain though. your best bet is to take the twists out that want to twist in the other direction and twist them so that you can retwist them clockwise.

Hey , I made a final decision on locking my hair up but one problem is that some of my ends on the top of my head are still relaxed... I don't want to start them while some of my end are still relaxed but majority of my hair is natural.. I read somewhere that you need to prep your hair for at least two months before starting locs. They said no conditioners and to eat right. I'm sure there may be some benefit to that but is that a must?
@KeishaCharmaine
@KeishaCharmaine 8 жыл бұрын
Pat's mom it is not a must. I just believe you are best off starting your locs on healthy hair. Regardless if it takes you 2 months to achieve healthy hair or not. If your hair is already healthy you're good to go. And I doubt it'll take only 2 months to transform your hair to health if it's very damaged

Would you suggest to cut off hair that has already grown out long before starting locs? Will it mold/dread better if you start from a twa?

I have 4 years worth of growth lol so it's at my waist. I'd look crazy with some starter dreads at that length so I might as well cut it lol

+It's Jess I think that would look pretty cool! It may be a pain and would take ages to lock though.
