I was there, invited to play at the festival the day before... For those who doesn't know this place the stage is very near the sea so sometimes you can year the waves respond to the music...magical...

This trio is beyond description. A Jazz treasure. The recent news of Keith's stroke issues is heartbreaking.

First of all, the song at 26:33 -- and I too have no idea what tune it is -- is to die for! Great tune, and Jarrett's playing is awesome. But even more of a standout in a way is Gary Peacock's bass playing. The sound of the bass is as if you are sitting there right in front of him. Very close-miked, no hall ambience. (On the piano either.) It's as if the trio were being recorded in someone's living room. Fantastic. Clear as a fucking bell! The best recorded sound of his bass that I have ever heard. You can hear every detail. Nice!

@@hvanngil9575 Thank you! There's an English version of this song. Do you know the title? I've heard played by some old, easy listening orchestras but can't remember the name.

@@Beyondabsence perhaps this link will be helpful - watch the comments kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5ncfX-OZdmgepo the following link leads you to a Wikipedia article in German. You can try it by copying it to an online translator for example: www.deepl.com/Translator Oh, I just did it for you (4u ;) "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt" is a song that Friedrich Hollaender composed in 1930 for the film *Der blaue Engel*. Hollaender also wrote the text. In the film, the song was sung by Marlene Dietrich in her film role of Lola Lola and became world famous through her interpretation. The text describes from the perspective of the femme fatale Lola her attraction and destructive effect on men ("Männer umschwirr'n mich..."; "...wenn sie verbrennen..."). At the same time the performer affirms her innocence and naivety ("...I can't..."; "...I can only love and nothing else"). Hollaender describes in his autobiography that he first composed the music. Afterwards he wrote the text, which he at first only regarded as a provisional arrangement. But the film crew was spontaneously enthusiastic and rejected his reservations about the text. The song is a slow waltz in ¾ time, and has two verses, beginning with "A mysterious glimmer..." and "What trembles in my hands...". The chorus, which begins with the title line "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt", has become particularly famous. The chorus has the song form A-A-B-A which is often used in popular music. Each of the four parts consists of eight bars, making a total of 32 bars. Hollaender composed the song in the key of F major, and this is how it appeared in the first printed edition. In the film it is in D major, apparently in consideration of Dietrich's relatively low voice pitch. In a first recording she sang it a half tone lower, in D flat major. "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt" on Electrola, recorded at the Singakademie 1930, shellac record In the film, the song sounds during a visit of Professor Rath to Lola's Variété. First the band, the Weintraub Syncopators, plays an instrumental introduction. Then Lola sings the first verse. The following chorus is interrupted by the director of the Variété after he and Rath have entered a box together. The director introduces Rath to the audience as guest of honour. Afterwards Lola's singing starts again with the chorus. Finally she repeats the chorus without singing the second verse. During her performance she takes a provocative and elastic pose sitting on a barrel. Her effect on Rath can be seen in his ecstatic face. Parallel to the German version, the film team shot an English version of the film (The Blue Angel) with the same actors. In this version, the song is accompanied by an English lyrics under the title *Falling in Love Again*. "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt" was set to one of Marlene Dietrich's most famous songs, which she sang again and again throughout her career. Many other performers - also male ones - also included the song in their repertoire. The Comedian Harmonists (Wir sind von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt) started in 1930. In the course of the revival of German-language hits and chansons of the 1920s and 1930s, numerous interpreters followed in more recent times, such as Margot Werner, Ute Lemper, Udo Lindenberg or Max Raabe. addition: not only Ute Lemper et al. performed the song. One of the craziest maybe is the version by Klaus Nomi: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWOxn2iAnbCEr7c

Man that vamp at the end 46:39 to the end at 52:26 is TO DIE FOR! Intense! Great fade-out, too. They are SO in sync, and playing so damn well. And that line Gary starts around 49:40, is so full of energy, propelling things. And Jack's cymbals/bells.....nice!
@hvanngil95753 жыл бұрын
the tune starts at 34:40 with a similar long lasting vamp. But around 39:45 there are chord progressions I can't associate with a special song or standard. Otherwise I can't imagine that this will work spontaniously, and if it did this is one of the greatest miracles in improvising art (regarding the communication between Keith and Gary)

The tune tagged as “Free Improv” at 34:44 actually sounds quite similar to “Dancing” from the album “Changeless” recorded during their 1987 tour. Thank you for uploading this wonderful concert

Re the song at 26:33. It's starts out being a piece in 4/4 time, typical feel of many of the pieces the trio does. But then I noticed that at the end it's a waltz! Didn't notice, however, when the change occurred. And so now I am listening (happily) to the tune again.
