The greatest jazz trio playing one of the most beautiful songs of all time. I thought Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin as an unexpected pair, but together they created a near perfect song. The song says, "If the ship I sing doesn't also bring, my own true love to me". Well the Keith Jarrett trio as usual, has done just that. Twice I was honored to see them live. Twice, I left with feelings unmatched. Once again, they have done just that. Absolutely brilliant.

How do they do it? How do they consistently create such magic? I am enchanted, enthralled, enraptured. Thank you for all this joyous magic. Spread the magic and share with friends and family. We need to keep jazz alive. You are emissaries. So get cracking!

Only 7 or so mins in, and the audience claps for the camera guy who got reprimanded but not Gary’s 1st bass solo? Buhhhh??

Wait......KJ probably would’ve scolded them for doing so, actually......NM 🤐

I'm so amazed at how good Jack DeJohnette is/was. I often for bits lose the sound of the bass, but never, ever do l miss a single note between Jarrett and DeJohnette. A match made in heaven. I have no idea what they're doing or why it is so good. I just know it is. It's shamanic. But I don't know what that means either.

I think of it as a complete return to the origins of creation to embody the impulse that brings forth all wisdom and life. It is a direct transmission of energy from the most subtle levels to our clumsy senses - the wonder of pure consciousness beyond time, space and form embodied in music. Jack DeJohnette is a giant in that regard. He taps into the infinite power of life and lets it flow for our enlightenment. I regard him very highly in a crowded field of drummers who are also very capable and skilled but are not completely PRESENT the way he is.

It is certainly a special magic .... Fare thee well

Jarrett - has some ties to mysticism and DeJohnette - has links with mystic India - in his music - so the combination - magic. Fare thee well.@@codyeynon8467

Have dipped into this presentation - in this last month. This is why - we have jazz music - this expression of beauty - with edge. Alive and enlivening. Helps me think and write about inner experience of meditation - quite something. Fare thee well.

Looks like the whole concert is posted here, though the audio quality is not as good: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqbVfZWJgKx9hMU It's funny, Jarrett was a lot "noisier" in his younger days. Used to really bother me until I saw an interview where he explained it's just something that happens. He's in the zone. Fortunately he has toned down as the years have passed. An immense talent, regardless of unspecified sounds!
