Keith I have two remarks for you; first off you always sound the way you do and it's almost as if you're not very proud and excited to show us all what you made. You should! Everybody watching your accomplishments is in utter awe. Second on the Dyno, it's heaps easier to have a very heavy flywheel from which you know the inertia. Combined with rpm it gives you what you need in a single sweep. You can then use a brake to slow it back down. Brakes on dyno's are for tuning purposes only; to fix rpm and vary engine load(throttle). The way you configured this now means you need to manually seek and hold the rpm to read off the load cell and I'm sure you noticed it's not very convenient. Lastly I want to comment that england knows many very good engine tuners (not talking about 13 in a dozen chiptuners now) and I'm sure most of them would be very motivated to go through the whole engine as a system with you. Since you know all variables and dimensions it's not all too difficult for them to help you point out the primary bottlenecks so you can use your incredible skill set on fixing those. Don't be afraid to ask for a bit of assistance!
@Keith57003 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes it would have been easier to go down the inertia roller route, but this has to be used with proper dyno software to produce the graph, and when I looked it was rather expensive. I am filming the speed and load cell and looking back after the run, so I can pick a few stable points. I have a few full sized car ecu tunes under my belt, so I’m ok with the mapping side of things. Main problem has been getting the engine to run long enough to do some proper tuning, and I’ve only recently added the brake, so I can now get to other points in the maps. I think I’ll find an obvious restriction in the intake when I strip it. Hopefully. Cheers.
@DC_DC_DC_DC3 жыл бұрын
@@Keith5700 Hi Keith, if you feel like it, have a look at USB data loggers (there are really cheap hobby type ones) and you can then use Excel to log rpm and time. With a small formula and the given inertia, it's very easy to plot a torque and HP graph! Good luck and much fun with the investigation :)

@@Keith5700 watch the video again. Your only emitting blue smoke from one pipe until the higher rpm range. Either youre not running on all cylinders or theres a lean spot on one side in the low end. Hence why in the first clip of your run the engine died and was smoking. Way too lean.
