Keith, you are such a blessing to me. I am a 54 yr old revert who God called home after 12 years. I went to my first Latin mass yesterday. I was weeping because I was so full of joy. You’re channel has been a great resource to me. I also said my first Rosary in years while watching one of your Rosary Crew videos. Thank you so much! God bless you!

Confession was so comforting to me coming back to Catholic Faith. I never felt the cleansing as a Protestant Christian. And yes, I feel confession holds me more accountable. I am more sensitive to sins, because I know I will have to confess. When I was in my twenties I thought it was nice not to have to go to confession anymore. I thought it was too embarrassing and as a Protestant it wasn’t necessary. Funny how I aged and returned to the Catholic Faith, confession is one thing I so looked forward too. What a beautiful message and so important.

Wow. I wish I could “like” this video 100 times! Your best talk to date, IMHO. I wish someone had taught my catechism classes who had your down to earth explanations. You should start helping with your parish’s RCIA program, for real. Thank you for that time you spoke of your conversion at the EWTN church I think in Alabama? Anyway I happened to scroll on to that video late one night several months ago, and I have been blessed to get to hear you every day now in our Rosary Crew. How lucky is that for me?! 😭 well done explained Keith. I just hope God opens heart, eyes and ears for those who are confused but really wanted to learn the truth of what Catholicism teaches and not what they been hearing and repeating it wrong. You talked about purgatory and one example one father give us he said: if you stole you have to go to jail and pay with months or years until you complete your sentence” You also talked about confesión and it comes to my memory St. Pío when he was confessing he feels the Holly spirit feeling when people was not telling him the truth and not repented of their sins so he was not giving the absolution. Watch the movie is so related on what you just talk about or probably you already watched. Thanks again!!

This is perfect timing. I was just discussing Purgatory and Confession with a protestant coworker today. She understands the Catholic teachings on salvation (faith and works) and she's becoming more and more skeptical of Sola scriptura. We've been having discussions about Catholicism for over a year now and the 2 teachings she just refuses to believe are Purgatory and Confession to a priest, no matter how much scripture I show her. She always just goes back to the "Jesus paid it all/One Mediator" verses. I'm trying to not get frustrated but I think at this point she may just be afraid of the truth.

The foundation is Christ and his doctrine so, we as believers build upon this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble. The first three, believers in truth and charity, will stand the test of the fire. The last three point to pomp of words and human eloquence leading to imperfections and lesser sins. The day of the Lord signifies immediate Day of Judgement with fiery trial of what sort every man’s work has been. The fire of God’s judgement shall try every man’s work. Since wood, hay, and stubble cannot stand the fire, they will suffer loss; but because their works were built upon the correct foundation, and if they die in the true faith though with imperfections, shall be saved, “yet so as by fire.” Finally, if not for purgatory, most of us will go straight to hades; given, that no unclean soul will enter the Kingdom of God.

Thank you, I found theologically well founded your explanation of Confession and Purgatory. I just think it would be pastorally more suitable to present Confession and Purgatory with a medical language. I mean to speak about sin as an illness of the soul: when a person is sick he needs to go to a doctor and to tell him the discomforts he experiences and listen to his advices and take the medicine he prescribes (the penance the priest gives). I would also present Purgatory rather as a hospital, where some are being healed after life from some spiritual injuries from the battles of this life, which fortunately were not deadly, before they enter Paradise. Our prayers and Masses for the faithful departed are like visiting sick people to support and encourage them, to ease their pains...Therefore it is very sad that people refuse to pray for the dead. But I do not believe that people spend years in Purgatory: if they are there for venial sins it is not reasonable that they spend there so long time; if they are being purified of the consequences of mortal sins of which they repented before dying, it is not either reasonable that they spend very long time there. Also the Church has taken recent stands towards a spiritual interpretation of the fire of Purgatory, after saint Catherine of Genoa, as the purifying fire of God's love, as a fervent contrition... I recently found that this was the position of St Thomas Aquinas by the end of his life, in the Compendium theologiae n. 182, where he does not mention anymore a material fire, saying only that the souls in Purgatory must be purified with pains similar (huiusmodi) to the fervent charity that purifies the hearts of saint men on earth.

Purgatory, if that’s what 2 Cor 3 is talking about (as an evangelical, I simply refer to this as the Judgement Seat of Christ), is something that _every_ believer will have to face. I have been led to believe that the Greek word translated Judgement there often referred to a kind of reward ceremony. The two outcomes are, I have been told, that you receive your rewards or suffer loss of reward (I’m sure just about every believer will experience varying amounts of both). The Bible supports this when it quotes Jesus talking about the least and greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. “Whoever is exalted among you shall be humbled, and whoever is humble among you shall be exalted.” Is a rough example from the top of my head.

I was baptized Catholic but left the faith, I became a Protestant and for so long I got used to confessing my sins directly to God. I recently went to confession and confessed sins I had already felt like I had been forgiven of but I confessed them anyways. I didn’t feel forgiven like everyone else talks about, I think because when I do sin I ask for forgiveness immediately. Now I’m starting to feel like there is something wrong with me. I sin pretty much everyday, I still lust and in the past week I’ve fornicated twice with two different women and have masturbated once. I always immediately feel remorse and I don’t want to do it. What’s wrong with me!?!? I feel ashamed to have to go to the priest and confess these sins because I know he might think I’m not really sorry for them but I really I am.

Going to confession has a spiritual, physical, and social effect of cleansing our lives. Habitual sin becomes “annoying” because of the confession practice (saying it again to confessor, making effort to go, etc). What did Jesus say about purgatory? Nothing! Do not be fooled by the doctrines of men! Humble yourself and let the Holy Spirit who leads you into all truth confirm the truth. Jesus said “let the dead bury the dead”....no amount of your own sacrifice will save anyone....either Jesus did it all or not. He said on the cross “it is finished”! The sin against the Holy Spirit is denying what Jesus did for us. God is not the author of confusion.....why do you say you do not know. It says the Holy Spirit will reveal all truth if you seek Him will all your heart. So was the religion of worshipping idols before Jesus came the belief! Nothing new false doctrines and antichrists will come.....Jesus said it. When Jesus said to Peter “upon this rock I will build my church (body of believers) He meant on Peter’s faith that he was the saviour. Remember.....soon after....He also said “get behind me Satan”. Shows how we can be manipulated by satan even as believers because of our sinful nature. We are not to follow man.....but God

That is not what Jesus meant

Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross for all our sins. Saying He didn't finish the job and there's more we can do by spending time in purgatory is heresy of the highest order. It's downright blasphemy. If we are truly Christians we confess or sins to God, not man. 1John 2:1-2 and Hebrews 4:14-16.

Yet you are following a man-made doctrine! Even Jesus believed in purgatory as He IS a Jew! Protestants are the only ones who follow a false doctrine of Martin Luther! Their whole doctrine is heresy! They do not have the Eucharist Adoration!

Well done brother ... it's really cool to see your sincerity, honesty and how you're using your brain - with the grace of God - to go always more deep into Gods Truth (God wants that: see for example Mark 7:18); the brain is a really great gift of God and we have to take it to bare fruit, to use it according to Him ... keep up also doing that always more ... P.S. - about 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, check also this biblical passages that someone make me acknowledge: 1Sam 2:6 and 1Peter 3:18-20 - really liked also your reflection about our participation on Christ sacrifice, suffering and redemption (good example of your daughter); yeah, as that someone help me understand also, as God revealed through Saint Paul, Jesus is the Head of His Body that is the Church (Col 1:18.24); our participation is on that, we're His Body ... is always Him, Head and Body ... - 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 ... man, how thankful I am to God that called also me to participate in His Priesthood; what a power in Him to participate in His Lamb Mission of taking away the sins from the world (ref. John 1:29); it's Amazing, difficult (cause indeed delicated [it's like a chirurgical operation in the soul]; we really have to put all our heart time brain to do it like Him, like He wants us to do it), but really Powerful, Amazing ... "you'll call Him Jesus, cause he'll save His people from their sins"; "my blood shed for the forgiven of sins" how? "to the ones you'll forgive will be forgiven, to the ones you'll not forgiven will not be forgiven"; So Jesus, our God and King, you want, so lets all do it with your help Keep up brother
