First and foremost thank you Andrew Lincoln for all the hard work you have done over the past decade. You truly were able to elevate The Walking Dead to a whole new level of tv shows.
And second thank you to all my subscribers who have supported me over the past year and a little beyond that. It’s really nice to see all the positive comments that stimulate me to make more content. This video is just as much for you as it is for mister Lincoln.
In this edit I showcase the transformation / evolution / story of Rick Grimes. From season 1 episode 1: days gone bye, to season 9 episode 5: what comes after. Rick is the biggest character in TWD and thus he has the most story, of course I can’t show every single event he went through because that would just be ridiculous. I was forced to narrow it down to the most impactful moments that truly changed Rick into a whole new person. I hope I was able to capture his most important states of mind. What I’m getting at is that there may be some scenes you wish made it in, but I personally didn’t think they were important enough to eat up more screen time. This video already is 20 minutes, which is kind of absurd seeing as most of my edits will be 2-4 minutes long.

This show started out with other shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones and even with that competition grew a massive audience that exceeded both shows. That is because of Andrew Lincoln’s 1000 percent commitment to his character and his ability to lead a cast that was constantly changing IMO. He made everyone on that show feel welcome and important regardless of the size of their role. Andrew Lincoln deserved an Emmy a long time ago IMO. The fact he never even got a nomination shows the disrespect the “academy “ had for the audiences and the actors of shows they deem “lesser” because they are based on comic books. I hope the critical and overall success of The Joker with Joaquin Phenix will cause a change in how the industry views and rewards the talented actors and professionals who have traditionally been undervalued and overlooked because their roles are based in material from comic books or graphic novels.

Lori was always a manipulator. Even at the beginning when Rick was talking to Shane about his marital issues it was obvious that Lori was the problem. I could not *stand* the Lori character from day one. She was a terrible wife and an even sh1tt!er mother. I half suspect that she and Shane had a thing going on prior to the outbreak.

Rick's transformation from good guy Officer Friendly to ruthless anti-hero survivor is amazing. It all feels natural with a lot of the actions feeling like something I would do if pushed that far, especially when he bit Joe's neck out, killed the Terminus freaks and I would've probably killed Negan so Rick showed more mercy then I would've.

Moments to me that truly changed Rick; -killing bicycle girl -killing the two men at the bar that wanted to take away their base -finding out everyone's infected even if they aren't bit -killing Shane (his best friend and long time cop partner) -finding out Lori died -witnessing Hershel's death (making him decide Hershels way of peace couldn't work) -ripping off Joe's throat (knowing from now on he has to do whatever it takes to protect his remaining family no matter how hard it is) -His obsession with controlling everything so that his people would be safe(his rants in Alexandria) -Seeing Abraham and Glenn die (this one was really important because he felt powerless in saving them and felt the need he should've been able to save Glenn especially after he saved his life from the horde in Atlanta) -Not being able to save people he cared about from Negan and blaming himself for failing the people that looked up to him (Daryl from his cell, Glenn, Abraham, Eugene, Sasha, the woman that helped in food organising) -Having to make the choice of helping the remaining Saviours and choosing the prop he spent a longer time in the apocalypse with (there were always fights in the beginning of season 9 which made being a leader harder) -Accepting his fate and sacrificing himself to protect the people he now knew were his family -Losing Carl -Accepting his fate and sacrificing himself to save the people he now knew were his family

This was good, but if you every redo it I think it would make sense to add more of the important conversations he had with people that shaped him. There were a lot with Michonne, Daryl, Morgan...etc (especially Michonne because she led him through so many important milestones/decisions throughout the seasons).

I have watched twd through all the available on Netflix 3 times. Each time I am drawn in by the excellent acting by all members of the cast. All the intense moments work everytime. It's great. It's talent, on top of talent on top of talent. The show was a production all involved can be proud of being a part of. Even with the business problems and what not, it is still a gem ✨️ 💛 👌 ☺️
