there is information on the Internet that shows how to install a 1/16" inch steel wire into the KEL-TEC P32 magazines to stop the rim-lock problem.
@abc-wv4in7 ай бұрын
@@unitedstatesirie7431 From what I've seen and heard, the rim lock problem is only for shorter rounds such as hollow points. FMJ doesn't seem to experience it because they are longer. Also some of the European brands like S&B and Fiocchi have a little bevel at the bottom. I don't have a .32 (yet), though.

He certainly has the knack. I'd be hard pressed to do that with my custom S&W .44 mag with my handloads. It's easy to shoot out to 100 yds from the bench; now stand up and try that offhand with no optics in double action (as you know he does that). I was expecting him to max out at 25 yards Great shooting! considering caliber and sights.

Fiocchi has ended the rim lock issue for me, as the base of the cartridge is more chamfered in the rear allowing the rim locked round to slide over the round beneath it. I have purposely induced rim lock and usually the force of the recoil spring alone will still chamber the round. If it doesn't, a light tap to the rear of the slide will send it home. During shooting, the force of the reciprocating slide easily handles rim locked rounds. Fiocchi FMJs are great and show good performance in Lucky Gunner's tests. Fiocchi loads their XTP round to almost the same cartridge length as their FMJ, so no flyer wires needed in the mags. Again, no rim lock issues with either. I haven't tried S&B yet, but it appears to me that the heavier chamfer is present and the Europeans wanted to solve the biggest problem with .32 acp. Check your ammo for that small detail... you'll be happy you did. BTW... I avoid PMC Bronze, as it will rim lock if you just look at it wrong... and that was FMJ.
@Hornet135 Жыл бұрын
Right, the European ammo tends to have the bigger chamfer. I’ve had good luck with Fiocchi, Geco, and S&B in my CZ-70. Loaded on the hotter end for .32 and no malfunctions. No issues with PPU either, but it’s noticeably more anemic than the others.
@brianwarzeha2731 Жыл бұрын
I love .32s, and I agree on the European ammo. Mauser 1934, Beretta 82 & 3032, Ortgies, CZ-50/70... They all receive an exclusive diet of Fiocchi, Geco, & S&B. Only the Berettas could ever digest American .32ACP, but not without an occasional hiccup.

@@myvenusheelerI'd be curious to know if yours makes it to 1,000+ rounds. Both of the P-32's I've owned started having issues not much beyond where you are (failure to feed and fire), after about 700-800 rounds. I've owned four P-3at's but I didn't find them to be super dependable so I never kept one too long and finally gave up and went to the Ruger copy which I greatly prefer over the kel-tec. I really wish the .32 ACP got more love, I think it makes more sense than .380 in a pocket pistol.
@myvenusheeler Жыл бұрын
@@conleyhennigan8113 We will see one day in the future as I have on hand at least 1150 rounds left of Italian made Fiocchi ammo as well as several boxes of S&B. This little pistol has never once malfunctioned. I can tell you in the past I owned two DB .380's that both went to total hell in less than 600 rounds. I say two because number two was a factory warranty replacement that died in about 450 rounds. Good thing about Kel-Tec is they will repair or replace if it dies. This question you posted has encouraged me to get it out of the Amsec safe and start shooting it again!!

In 1999 I bought a P11, similar pistol in 9mm, but a little bigger. It was possible to control and get accurate with some two handed effort holding the grip downward to brace against muzzle flip, but the 9mm round in the light frame polymer design was slapping my watch maker fingers uncomfortably, and I never fed it a whole box of 50 rounds in any one range session! Firing that pistol felt like somebody slapped my palm with a ruler. I bet the 32 is a lot more comfortable to shoot! This may also be the reason, why it is still in the catalogue, and the 9mm got dropped. The OTHER and more important reason I got rid of it was this: The internal hammer was actually deforming the rear of the slide, where the hammer was getting cocked! The slide was slowly getting an ever larger groove where the hammer was getting pushed down, with the displaced metal bulging out to the sides at the rear lower edge of the slide. This never happened on my Beretta 92D, which was also very comfortable to shoot. That kind of soft metal deformation on that KelTec was uncomfortable to see, and I have never considered another KelTec after that!

Ive carried my P-32 for years. Ive always liked how small and easy to carry it is. Only thing i have done to it was to polish the feed ramp up nice, and put a MAG extension with a spur on it to help with my grip. I only carry it when i dont want, or dont think i can get away with something larger. Polishing up the feed ramp, and being careful when loading the MAGS to avoid rim-lock has kept it pretty reliable for me. Ive never considered it much more than 10 yards for any kind of accuracy. Youve got me now going to have to practice more to get it out further. Thanks Buffalo!

European and British .32 ACP used to be just a wee bit hotter; not quite near a +p, but there was a discernible difference, if you ran both side by side. Fiocchi softened their loads when they relocated to America - cost saving perhaps? If anyone knows the answer, I’d welcome it, ta.

@Just1American1966 Жыл бұрын
Yep. If you like HP, then load one in the chamber and one in the topmost position in the magazine. The rest should be FMJ for maximum reliability (and penetration.) I learned about rimlock the day I got my P32, having gone straight to the range with it and two boxes of Winchester Q4255 ("white box") ammo, which is a flat-tipped FMJ round.
@Miata822 Жыл бұрын
Steady hands! The P-32 can be rock solid reliable, but not out of the box and it takes more than just breaking it in. I hope it's still out there, but years ago there was a Kel-Tek owners forum that discussed in some detail what they called a "Buff and Puff" treatment that dramatically improved reliability. At least that was the case in my experience. Mag springs like it if you unload them from time to time. My wife now keeps the one I bought and rotates which mag is loaded every 6 months or so to ensure reliable feeding. I was able to find a nicely made leather holster that looked like a wallet in the back pocket, perfect for summer wear. 32ACP hollow points lack the energy to expand. FMJ rounds have better penetration, and that's all you can ask from a 32. I paid about $200 about 15-ish years ago but a quick peek at GunBroker shocked me with what these go for today.

That gun reminds me of a Grendel P10 that I owned in the late 1980s. It was .380 ACP, but it didn't have a removable mag. Looked a lot like that gun though. It was loaded down through the open slide and into the grip. It held 10 or 11 shots and had what the company called an "inertial" firing pin and used a coiled spring instead of a wound spring. It was single action only and the "inertial" thing meant that you couldn't throw it on the ground or smack it with a hammer and make it fire, you had to pull the trigger. It was a nice simple gun. I think it was one of the first guns to use polymer in the frame, as well. Unfortunately I turned a lead acid battery over onto the fishing tackle bag that I kept it in and all the metal parts got ate up.
