I just fired mine after the upgrade, and let me tell you, it is worth it. it was finally a joy to shoot, with out ANY issues. I would actually consider it for conceal carry with the 30 rounds, that's a lot of stopping power there. Thanks you MCARBO.

Thanks for saving my sanity. Traded for one of these and couldn't even feed first round. The reason, the buffer was so melted, it was jammed all through the slide. Ordered the all-in-one kit from MCarbo, and 10 buffers from KelTec. Can't wait to see how this thing runs when I get everything replaced. Thought I had just traded for a lemon, now I know I'll be able to make lemonade.

Thank you so much for including an extra tiny piece of wire in the new recoil springs. At the last second mine bounced off my thumb and was lost to my floor for eternity. @goodoldjam3 жыл бұрын
Just did this and a couple notes. The mag release screw/Stud was reversed on my gun. The hammer spring pin popped off and even though the hammer was forward it dropped back. So I needed to get the hammer back up which was simple. Just make sure you work on this in a area where if a part flies you can find it, I almost lost the hammer spring pin. My kit included a 2nd wire for the slide spring. I also did the slide lock upgrade which included 2 extra screws. The only hard part was the recoil spring wire which I saved because I didn't see the new one. Great video! I have a torque screw driver and the factory screws seem to be torqued about 3in lbs.

Definitely upgrade the buffer so that we don't have to go through the Meltdown process and have to wait for someone to make it letting our firearm catch dust!
@wilycoyote90914 жыл бұрын
Just another example of where Kel-Tec goes the cheapest route for the parts in their guns. Don't know how hot it gets there if you rapid fire a couple of mags, but the engineers should have anticipated owners doing something lke that and designed a part capable of withstanding a lot more heat than 60 rounds of rapid might produce. Big mags invite rapid shooting, sort of brings out the Rambo in you.

Should be a simple mold extension to make a mag that will hold the whole box of 50. It would add almost 3" to the mag, 2.5 for the ammo space and another .5" for the extra spring length.

I love the extended Mag idea. A mag that holds a whole box of ammo would be epic. Of course the buffer. But I'll also throw out the idea of an extended rail for the cmr30. That be pretty cool.
@jakegarrett81094 жыл бұрын
I think at that point Glock might have this beaten (you can get drums for Glock, and I’d say a normal magazine is 33 round stick mag at like $15 or less). The cool factor of this PMR30 to me is that it’s normal size, no extension, otherwise you might as well get a calico which comes in the lowest capacity of 50x 9mm and their standard capacity is 100x 9mm and of course works on their pistol, (but it over doubles in its weight when loaded). They also make a 100x .22 rifle so if the NFA was unconstitutional you could of course bear that arm however you saw comfortable and have a pistol in a cheap plinking caliber with a bunch of ammo. I don’t know, ruins the mainstream clean look to me if it’s extended mag since there are so many options for common pistols in lots of calibers, it loses the nice aesthetics and would just be like a normal handgun with extended mag to me. Not that I’d ever complain about a gun having too adequate of capacity (I’d rather have 50x too many bullets after a gunfight than 1 too few).
@13letsgoredwings4 жыл бұрын
@@jakegarrett8109 Looks wise it be funky on the handgun, but on the rifle it be very practical/tactical. I got plenty of Glocks and fun sticks but I don't trust the Korean products. If only Magpul would release there promised drums.

i just bought the pmr30 kit and installed it. I sent the guide rod spring to M*CARBO to install because i lost the first clip and washer and it drove me crazy. It was $35 with shipping both ways , well worth it to me. Makes it a great reliable fun gun to shoot. Reliable now to even consider for EDC. I also bought the M*CARBO m series sub2000. Makes a novelty type gun into a reliable, great shooting weapon. . The sub2000 shouldn't be sold without this complete upgrade. Please put out the improved pmr buffer.

For the buffer melting issue. I would recommend making a mold of a factory new buffer and then trying various consistencies (density) of silicon to achieve the buffering effect while allowing for a higher temp tolerance.

Hello. I bought this kit from you, and I must say, I am elated on the difference this has made. My pmr is a runner now! Night and day difference! Finally I can rely on this firearm. Thanks again!

Its all about cost over production. If they do everything Mcarbo does they drive up the cost, slow the production. All that kills the price point and profit margin. Personally I take great satisfaction from doing my own upgrading, MC just makes it easier.
@wilycoyote90914 жыл бұрын
@@lewstherin826 Profit always drives the ship. By the looks of all of the molded and injected plastic parts it would seem that the real costs were in the orgininal R&D and now cranking them out in volume has to have recovered all of the development costs a long time ago and they're sitting in the sweet spot of low production cost and high profit. Kel-Tec likes to inovate but ends up going low ball on the materials. A stock Sub 2000 is a great idea made as cheaply as possible, but then a niche market has opened up for an outfit like Mcarbo to come up with quality upgraded parts that vastly improve the product. As long as Kel-Tec is selling lots of them and making money it would appear they're happy with the status quo, besides a "tactical" model with metal parts would be an admission that they used cheapo plastic where everyone else uses metal. I look at it from a total cost standpoint, how much extra does it cost beyond the purchase price to get it working the way it should have been from the factory versus buying something else. In terms of the Sub 2000 there just isn't anything else like it, but it needs a bunch of upgraded parts to improve it and make it relaible over the long term which drives up the cost of ownership.

Regarding the plastic buffer at the front of the gun that keeps melting with heavy use --- This would be best replaced by a formed piece of high temp Teflon such as you would find used in steam fittings of hydraulic cylinders. Some of the steam fitting (packing material for valve stems) Teflon is actually rather soft and would provide a great cushion and resist the effects of the heat greatly. My observations on installing the kit: 1. When removing the retaining ring wire from the slide spring assembly, it is far easier to hold the springs compressed when the assembly is still in the slide. It's sort of an even wash when trying to reinstall the ring. It is a little difficult to insert the spring assembly into the slide without them being captured by the ring but reinstallation of the ring is much easier because the compressed slide assembly is easier to hold in your one free hand. 2. I found it much easier to get the slide lock lever spring back into place by letting the lock lever's open C foot off the post so you have less to push the spring and it's more in the open. Once the spring is in the hole it's and easy small push to move the C foot back over the post. 3. With the two halves separated, I had no need for the alignment pin for the mag release spring and new release button. I simply made sure the post remained with the working half of the gun assembly and just popped the new part right in and held the spring with my fingers. I only had to chase it once... ;-)

Buzzed one of my mag followers down & IIRC can squeeze >3 MORE< in the mag! Figured Id have some function issues but havent had any as of yet with the mod'd PMR-34!.. Usually load em to 25/26 anyway... "Fixed" the mag release on my PMR & CMR-30's by digging around in my 1/35th scale military model spare parts box & epoxied a 1/4 inch high "Half Moon" piece around the top of PMR30 mag release to inhibit accidental mag release....-Kindve akin, but opposite in function to the TandemKross PMR30 Magazine bump/base pad offering which protects mag release from the bottom VS the top...sure, it may look janky, but I prefer function over looks as its a carry piece. Doesnt affect grip/shooting whatsoever... Used a "Dragon Models-1/35th scale Jagdpanzer IV Assault Gun" mod'd cannon mantlet-(The part that interfaces/welds directly onto the tanks glacis plate as it has a two part mantlet)- Such acting a mag release cover on the CMR-30. -If ones hand isnt choked all the way up on the grip one can easily hit the mag release w/the meat of ones palm due to different weight distribution in comparison to the PMR30...Both have been "Fixed" & have had rough use & are still holding strong.... ~Epoxy, zip-ties, bailing wire, duct-tape/hippie chrome, painted over rust & hope being the chief things that hold this old world of ours together.... The additions dont seem to bother me or my shooting one bit, Im surprised KelTec hasnt made such an addition next time they have to change their injection molds out? -Just a little upside down "U" rim around em would do the job.....Im sure some people would whine though?....

I just completed the kit except for the spring. I didn’t want to mess with the cheap spring clip. Yes. Design and offer a better buffer and spring clip, the gun is unique and fun. However, these and other upgrades are needed to move this from a novelty gun to a real sturdy firearm.

I have not had any problems with my PMR30. Bought it used/new at local gun and pawn. Now when I changed barrels to aftermarket longer barrel it had horrible feed problems.

adaboy4z ......Excel Arms makes a 22 mag with an 8.5 inch bbl in stainless, or blue steel. The ‘Accelerator’. The magazine only holds around 7 or 10 rounds.

I wore out the cheap buffer and replaced it with a piece of stiff rawhide then lubed it up to make it pliable. works great. Just buy a cheap leather punch /plier tool and you can form a nice buffer making sure the leather is the right thickness as the stock buffer. Made a few extras as back ups....or, you can buy the cheap buffers from keltec for $2 each plus shipping...etc.
