Bought my PMR-30 about two months ago. The factory gun shot fine but was ammo sensitive. Would not shoot 30 grain well. I ordered the MCarbo complete kit for the PMR-30. It came in about a week. The toughest part was installing the spring on the stainless steel feed ramp. The little tool was OK....but I found that putting the spring into the hole and then pushing the stainless ramp into position worked just fine. I did have to replace the spring with the old spring from the plastic ramp on the new stainless feed ramp. I bent the daylights out of the spring that came on the stainless ramp trying to get it into that little hole. Polish that ramp! The polishing kit is well worth it. The new aluminum trigger was easy to install but.....it was just a tad too long and would not allow the gun to fire as the trigger would hit the trigger guard. I took a Dremel tool and ground off about 1/16 inch of the bottom of the trigger and that solved that problem! The slide springs are easy to install if you follow their video. What I did was put the spring assembly into a vice and then took a needle nose vice grip on the steel guide to keep the springs apart from the end cap. That will allow easy removal of that little wire clip and then reinstallation. I did all the mods available and did the magazine clip button last after the gun was put back together. It made it easier to do the mag clip without having to deal with aligning the mag clip and the spring to put the gun back together. The final mod was the rubber grip. So easy to install and made a huge difference in the feel of the gun. I have run over 550 rounds of various manufacture and weights and so far with the mods, not one failure to feed or fire. From 30 grain to 50 grain bullets, everything feeds much better and smoother. the gun feels totally different in a good way. Thanks MCarbo!

@@stevekatz4372 You will still have the same FTF issues with 40 grain ammo, I use various 1875-1910 FPS 40 grain, HP and FMJ, that sloppy fitting magazine will still toast your feeding reliability. Once you tighten up the mag you will go from several FTF per magazine, to one per several magazines. I think if I also put in the feed ramp it would function reliably. All the fussing has me real turned on to the Walther WMP 22 mag. Just saw a video of 800 rounds fired and 1 failure on 30 grain ammo. Thats what keltec should have produced. The PMR 30 would be so great, if it was set up better from square one. I have always called mine a PMR 20, or 25, cause really getting 30 into the mag is a pain, and it seems those ones are the harder ones to feed anyway (cause of the sloppy mag)

For the slide stop spring I didn't use the tool purchased, I removed the slide stop bar and inserted the spring and rotated the feed ramp in the general orientation it needs to be and it was way easier and didn't cause undue stress on the spring and the bar. Do it this way.

Installed the SS feed ramp, frame reinforcement and enhanced mag release today. Watched this excellent video as I was doing the work. Felt 100% confident. Was quick and easy thanks to this video. Works perfectly. I did slightly over tighten the screws to the point of having a dead trigger. Half turn off and was working. I did oil up everything while performing the work. Great video thanks 😊update...I shoot Hornady 30 gr v max varmint and they cycle perfectly through the pmr 30 with the mcarbo ss feed ramp and new mag release button. I've shot well over 500 rounds flawlessly through my pmr. Not one hiccup.

I finally got to upgrade the feeder and mag release on the CMR30. this video helps to encourage as well as to guide with those upgrades. In my case I had already lots of Gail to feeds as well as light fire. After upgrading I noticed the chamber was a bit burnt so I took the time to clean it up. Will post soon after I get a chance to take it to the range. ( also pending are the mag release and feeder upgrade to my pmr30 ) lastly, the trigger has a trick to it to get it to work and tightness isn’t one of them. You have to line up the safety correctly before tightening the safety on the right side. If the metal piece is too low before screwing up the right safety switching from safe to fire will not get the trigger to work. You have to have a mini fine tool such as the thinnest Allen wrench to activate the trigger before even placing the right side safety back on.. this was not shown in the video perhaps it’s more of a pain in the cmr30 than it is in the pmr30.

I'm glad you guys are available to offer upgrades to Kel Tec products because they definitely need it - they could be cool guns if they weren't made entirely of cheap plastic shells that are just crudely screwed together. I did the feed ramp replacement. It looks different than the one you are showing. Ive honed and polished mine several different times and i think i finally have it shooting 100% Ive also added a bead of UV glue to the mags where the mag catch catches the mag. I want to get a stainless mag when i find one at a fair price. Ive grown to love my PMR 30 and ive been carrying it😊

Got mine installed but haven’t been to the range yet. Work always gets in the way of the fun stuff. I didn’t go with the SS feedramp I just modified mine with a small flat file and I installed the extra power recoil spring. The new mag release works good with my tandemkross extended mag bases. I also went with the RTK red aluminum skeletonized trigger.

Finally got to the range and man I gotta say I’m impressed with the new mag release as far as holding the mag higher in the gun. I put 125 rounds of CCI 40 grain HP through it and not one single hiccup!!! I believe this pistol will eat any kind of ammo you feed it now.

While i agree this is a great upgrade, the new Pmr30 i just bought 2 weeks ago ran 6 mags with no failures first range visit. I dont think I'll be spending the money to upgrade when it runs perfectly right out of the box. If it has failures in the future, which i doubt, I might do these upgrades. Thanks

The key with rimfire cartridges in a clip is that you have to make sure that after the first bullet each subsequent cartridge rim is in front of the prior. If the rim of the next cartridge is behind the prior that could cause feeding problems. I'm not sure if tapping it could cause problems because it might cause a misalignment and cause the rims to be out of alignment.

You do realize - the excessive spring pressure inside the mag - is some of the issue. Back in the early 80's - when I was a wee lad. I Ruger 10/22 was it. They had just released the - 50 round Banana Magazines. If fully loaded - always jam at random thru the 1st 10-15 rounds. Once I started loading 35 rounds. No jams !!! I know - defeats the purpose of having capacity of 50. A multi tension spring would fix most high cap mag issues. My opinion - not sure if a single spring can be made like that. It seems like to fix the problem easily is to not jam 30 rounds in there it's to put in 25 rounds. After it got through the first 5 rounds it had no problem.

Excellent video. I installed the parts today in my CMR30. I don't know if the hammer spring in a CMR30 is stronger than the PMR30 but I found it impossible to use the needle nose pliers to get the hammer spring around the. pin on the grip. Instead, I used the curved hook from a Harbor Freight hook and pick set (SKU 63697).

I have a gen II so I dont have feed ramp issues, but I'd still like to do this upgrade, however, my concern with the metal feed ramp is that internally over time and shooting, will it wear away the plastic that holds it?? I think keltec just needs to make an all aluminum version bc polymer and metal dont mix. Just some thoughts for the pmr community. Thanks brother!!

You loaded both those mags to 31 lol gonna install my stainless feed ramp now. I did a mod to the stock mag release a while back and that helped some, hopefully this fixes things for good.

If it means anything to anyone, I just purchased my pmr30 (5/2024). Using the recommended 40 grain and up I have had no issue with the gun. I did test a box of 30 grain flat nose and there wasn't enough energy to cycle, but no issues in the actual feeding of the firearm. In my case at least it appears they have fixed the issue. Hope this helps someone in their decision.

My feed ramp is arriving tomorrow. I tore my pmr down today to be prepared. I tried to reassemble with old feed ramp and I cannot get the spring into that tiny hole. I built a tool using a screwdriver from an eyeglass kit so I will try again tomorrow when the part arrives. My 59 year old eyes seem to be the major problem here😂😂 If I can’t get it I guess a trip to the gunsmith is next. Wish I had gone on and gotten the bundle cause I don’t wanna do this again😂

In a comment above a guy said he put the spring in the tiny hole 1st. And that worked out great.

Will the enhanced mag catch work as described in this video with the cp33 as well? I am trying my best to get my cp33 to run as reliably as possible but wanted to be sure it will work as advertised with the cp33 variant before I make the purchase. I have the pmr reliability kit it did not fix my feed issue not even after polishing feed ramp

I have the old one but I still love it anyway it does jam or hang up I love it love to shoot it everyone that I have let shoot it has love it and said they was going to get them one
