Omg yes this album was truly divine. Faves are definitely, “Take Me Apart” “Waitin” “Blue Light” “LMK” and “Truth Or Dare”. The instrumentals for ALL OF THE SONGS, but these ones in particular always gives me chills. Her vocals? magnificent! The sensuality of it all? EXQUISITE!

Completely respectable review... however one thing that he harped on twice I very much so disagreed with. That being that the album is much like many other alternative r&b albums. Which is funny since every music review/critic besides him has said the exact opposite. Kelela has definitely made her own lane in the alternative world. It’s very easy to get drawn into her music BECAUSE of her unique sound. Had she just been another alternative girl, we wouldn’t have paid her much attention. But thats the beauty in alternative music. Many of the alternative artists have their unique sound and you rarely find carbon copies like you do in the pop world. I thoroughly enjoyed this album. From the production, lyrics, and overall cadence of the songs let along Kelela’s voice alone. Easily my favorite alternative album in a while. Kelela is amazing.

LMK is the biggest club banger I’ve heard all year. How it hasn’t even cracked the Hot 100 and taken over the radio is a mystery. I used to dismiss this beautiful woman’s craft and call her a pale Janet carbon-copy and a second coming of fka (that i’m not huge on) until I heard this single. Then revisiting the album, I was completely hooked on its first half, say, until I reached the stunning « interlude » S.O.S. Then I started panting a little bit. This album is so heavily loaded with towering emotions and painstaikingly edgy production, my main reproach is 54mn of it might be a little too long to handle. Anyway the hype is deserved. Solid 7 for me.
