Gidday mate from Australia, very nice job. Suggest you look to getting a driver and use hex or square driver bits and screws/ far more suited to lots of screwing. Also if you ever felt inclined to slant the battens then you get full privacy. Gotta go catch me kangaroo mate!

Smashing job with nice attention to detail. And worth paying extra for red cedar - much nicer than pine that most folks use!
@iamghesp Жыл бұрын
Red Cedar is 2x the price of pine, so it does mount up, especially with the cost of timber these days. Looking to do a 2m gap at 1.8m with this, and pine is £160, Red Cedar nearly £400 😢

Looks nice yes. You should always use stainless steel nails or screws for fixing cedar as all others Will stain the cedar over time when they react with the water and salt. The flat head screws must have been a nightmare!

I need some of those cedar battons but only for a small bit. Does anyone know where to get them where there isn't a minimum order of £450? Also, any stores that sell them?
@valkyriesardo2783 жыл бұрын
I would prefer a vertical batten to cover the seam where the two panels meet. The brass screw heads are not unattractive, but the natural color variation where the battens butt together is distracting. For the sake of symmetry you could add a vertical batten to either end. It the battens were staggered to echo the stone wall below, the effect would be less jarring, but that would have been an unreasonable amount of cutting and fitting.

Very nice! great privacy, this is what I need. Thanks

@thediytribe84244 жыл бұрын
Yes, on our extra support battens we screwed from the back, however on the 4x4 posts we didn't have screws the perfect length to go through the 4x4 and not out the other side of the battens on the front
