Yes it’s true. I wish people that don’t want children or can’t take care of them would take into consideration the child will never get over the pain of that. And it will affect them for their whole lives. I just pray that any child in that position gets a wonderful adoptive parent or parents or grandparents or someone who loves them. Kelly’s sweet grandpa raised her. And I know she loved him but missed both of her parents, as she talked about her daddy often being in prison, and her grandfather having to take care of her. I always prayed her grandfather would somehow beat the odds and live a long and healthy life so he could be here to see her make all her milestones. I think her grandmother died before him. I know parents are not perfect but when you bring a child into the world you have to realize your needs are no longer the focus anymore, although you can still have a wonderful life, you have to sacrifice your time and attentions on your children. It is a joy also to see the world through a child’s eyes and watch them grow up, not just a sacrifice. That’s what you just concentrate on, the joy they bring you. It’s something that is very serious and if you aren’t able to give them the time and attention and patience and love and security they need, it’s better not to have them. I don’t think we should shame people either that make the wise choice not to have a child because maybe they know they aren’t cut out for that. It’s better to be a wonderful aunt or uncle or friend etc and baby sit occasionally than have a child you can’t devote yourself to. It is usually the root of all people trauma when they have had a childhood that they feel they were not loved.

@@joshsheffield680 divorcing is not abandonment. It's an unfortunate event in any child's life, but sometimes, the parents seperating is actually a better thing than being subjected to the atmosphere, anger, stress of parents obviously not comfortable with each other any longer. Yes the children can take it hard and even blame themselves, but it's not the same as being or experiencing abandonment.

"when I look in the mirror and all I see are your brown eyes looking back at me" - This line hit this adopted child hard.
@pdoylemi22 күн бұрын
My wife and I could not have kids. After trying, we adopted two fantastic kids. I understand how you feel, I know our kids still have questions about their birth parents. It hurts us a tiny bit, but we get it. But keep this in mind, a lot of kids who are with their birth parents were maybe not so wanted - sometimes not at all. When you are adopted, it is by people who see the chance to raise you and love you and be a part of your life as the greatest gift in the world. It is like something my brother once told me (OK because our family is close) about the idea of family (blood family) being so important - "You get to choose your friends, you don't get to choose your family. Your friends have earned your love and trust." You were CHOSEN - not just an accident after a night at the bar. Someone said, "I want to make this child the center of my life."

For the last 18 years I’ve watched my daughter live this song everyday. Her mother has never had much to do with her. I’ve tried to be the best Dad I could and my wife is a terrific Mom to her, but she isn’t her birth Mother. That’s a void that’ll never be filled.
@ghostwritter10753 жыл бұрын
Yes it will. If it hasn't happened since you posted this and she and your wife have a good relationship one day you will see a light in your daughter's eyes you never thought could be possible for her stepmom. Even though I wasn't abandoned by my mom I still lost her when I was 11 to Cancer and besides my grandmother I thought I would never LOVE another woman the way I loved my birth mom. But my God-Mother who was my mom's ACE stepped and it was like I never lost my mom. When you have been hurt before but you have someone that cares for you so deeply. You try to be cautious and build a wall around your heart. Well it's been 34 years and me and my God-Mother don't miss a beat calling or video chatting with each other at least every other day. And one day she will feel that love for her NEW MOM. But she will never forget her birth mom.
