Leadcore is king over here in Maine.

It works great. There are times out here in California that we need divers and downriggers but I use LC when I can which is much of the time!

On lakes that allow two poles, I'll use leadcore on one side & mono on the other. When I get more bites on one pole than the other I'll make my adjustments. Works great when using the long line for kokanee as well as trout. Tight lines.

While using leadcore vs downrigger I’ve caught so many more fish on leadcore that I thought I was using the downrigger wrong. Lol

How are you Cal? I have a question. Do you use snubbers with your lead core? Are they really necessary? So far I have been doing good without them using your techniques but I’m wondering if I’m going to lose a big fish one day for not using them.

Snubbers are common on old school lead setups with 10+ colors of lead. Our hybrid setup doesn't require them with the topshot and leader between the lead and your tackle. A quality rod with a soft tip also helps act as a snubber and makes up for the lack of stretch in lead line. ~Wes

Thanks for the tips -- question about fluorocarbon -- is there a way/reason to use it as your main line, not just the leader? I've tried it as my main line and I get so many snarls/tangles that have to be clipped off and then I have to re-rig everything ... it's very frustrating. I've tried soaking my spools in warm water, but that doesn't really seem to help much. I use a barrel swivel any time I'm pulling a spoon or anything that could cause line twist. Any tips for taming the fluorocarbon line, or is it really just best to only use it as a leader? (I've been using 6 & 8 lbs test - same brand as you showed in this video).

For what it’s worth, I use mono on my spool and flouro only for my leader material.

I’m not going to thumb down your video (it’s all thumbs up and I don’t want to ruin that) but I don’t think there are any mistakes regarding fishing. Some of the worst techniques I’ve seen have produced the most fish.
