I think @@jonathanwallach1496 is onto something. I was just watching the KZbin video of Whitney Houston singing this song in 1990. In that video, Whitney Houston is 27 years old. In this video, Kelly Clarkson is 38, and is still holding her own compared to Whitney's performance (but I'll acknowledge that Whitney was sick in that video). Nevertheless, I think that says something. How is Kelly Clarkson's singing here compared to Whitney at 38 and Mariah at 38? I think it's fair to say she's at least at their level as a singer.
