Kelly in my book is the best. She can take any song and make it better than the original song! Kelly will always be the original American Idol. If it wasn't for her American Idol wouldn't exist now. it's a really hard song to sing, the breathing aspect especially. she could have been sick and had trouble with the deep breaths. she actually inserted a LOT of breaths in between words that don't have any breathing. Olivia has to take a huge breath and then sing a lotttt without taking another breath. It's pretty crazy, especially since it gets so strong at the end of the run (you sold me for parts you sunk your teeth into me... etc). Kelly can do it, but if she was sick then taking those deep breaths is really hard.

I think in part she was being respectful to Olivia because she's not a power belter Olivia's version is very airy even in the climax parts. So I think Kelly told herself down a little bit especially cuz the girl was just on her show before this. But the breathing for this song Kelly did completely differently mostly out of skill. But it was respectful to Olivia but Kelly put her own little bit of a spin on it and I think she might have been tipsy because she doesn't drink and she did whatever that electric blue shot is (I know she likes wine I meant hard liquor)
