Mariah's Without You is extremely hard because of how low you have to sing in the beginning and how high the long-drawn out vibrato notes are towards the climax. Kelly dodged the lows in the beginning but she improvised beautifully. She killed it!

Zek Star of course i didnt mean that i can reach her range, but i meant was that i have HER range , so what i meant lets imagine that my current top and bottom is from 3-6 and hence my range is obviously 6-3 = 3 and hers would be something more like 5-13 which would mean that she has a range of 13 - 5 = 8 hence that i am wishing for is to be able to have a range of 8 in my vocal high and low so that i can go from 3 - 11 or even 3 - 10 plus i would want to have her vocal strength , she can hit notes like they are a nail in wood while i can only flick them also i would like to have her lung capacity , as she has a very BIG lung capacity and can hold notes for MUCH longer and also provide that extra air to accelerate her vocals

Knichol I think people say that this version sucks because they’re comparing Kelly to Mariah. I think this an excellent version. When someone sings a Mariah song, I think it’s unrealistic to compare vocals, and putting Mariah’s version aside, I think Kelly did great on this one.

Tristan Anderson I think Kelly’s and Carrie’s fans were “competing” with each other more than Kelly & Carrie themselves ever were. From what I understand, Kelly was one of Carrie’s favorite artists when she auditioned for season 4, and the two have reported many times that they like each other’s songs. The cattiness and drama regarding them was ridiculous. They are both extremely talented and gifted in unique ways and people need to respect that.

tavish masih Mariah actually praised Kelly's renditions of her songs when Kelly performed on Idol, when Mariah was a judge on idol saying Kelly sang them better than herself. Legends supporting each other is great. Both are great spectacular voices, each impacted the industry in their own way.The girls of the current generation of performers will never be able to deliver like this. LOVE IT. I love when Kelly redid the song on the Results Show the next day!! It was even better!! The cover might not have been perfection but Kelly brought her own flavour to Mariah's cover and not many can do that. You can see her deep appreciation for Mariah's cover but also her own musicality pull through at certain moments. Evidently, this was just the beginning but what an AMAZING start to a marvellous career and personality!
