Kelly definitely has Soul in his voice Listening to him I was blown away. definitely Kelly styles sounds like it comes from record labels like Motown, Stax , Curtom records and what I really like is that he’s an original and not singing covers of other peoples songs. Great Sound

Kelly is part of the Ohio based Colemine Records family. Alongside label cats like Durand Jones and the Inclinations and Neal Francis they're bringing back real rootsy soul music. No surprise KEXP are supporting Kelly they're amazing at getting behind many underground acts across every genre. Large up yourselves one and all.

I'm so damn proud of Kelly, LA-born soul brother who finally discovered the good stuff via Hip-Hop like the rest of us from his generation did (early-'80s baby here, also hailing from the same hometown as him 😊👍). His work with the Monophonics as well as his own solo projects are proof positive that the old school STILL remains the "Gold School", folks! Wouldn't mind seeing him hook up with Judith Hill on a collaboration effort at some point, those two have more in common than they might think...

CATCH ME I'M FALLING LYRICS So much is said about love but not enough is said about the way you love me (Oooh you love me) Thinking of a smile wishing for your kiss Oh but I go (Hold onto me baby) Cupid left an arrow in me Got me feeling like I can hardly breathe I’m suffocating (Nothing I can do, give me a reason) I don’t want to hear nobodies good reasons why I shouldn’t fall in love this season, I will oh baby I will Catch Me I’m Falling Catch Me I’m Falling No one said it happened this fast It’s hard to make a good thing last forever (Oooh I loved you) When you see the changing of leaves Girl it’s feeling like I can hardly breathe I’m frustrated (Nothing left to lose, baby I’m leaving) I can’t listen to more reasons why I shouldn’t let no more girls pass me by My friends tell me oh no it’s no good But I’d stop it oh yeah if I could I just want to hear all the right reasons Why my heart changes with every season Catch Me I’m Falling Here comes the sun, here comes the rain Catch Me I’m Falling Another season, another new love Catch Me I’m Falling Catch Me I’m Falling

This band is cooooold. I knew that Kelly was a White guy after looking up the song featured in the Bose commercial and wasn't shocked.. because Soul music is transcendent...BUT...I was shocked to find that he's capable of that sweet falsetto AND that powerful chest voice. Lots of times it's either or with the male voice.

Guys, you might install some air conditiong in studio, i s'spose - a lot of artists were sweating, might feel uncomfortable. Or whateva.
@fulosophy724
@fulosophy724 4 жыл бұрын
That's what happens when you sing soul, like Lee Fields and Charles Bradley, "He's not sweating, his whole body is crying" was one of the best comments I've seen LOL

It's like working out in a dojo man...you want to sweat. It needs to be humid in there. It's much better for the vocals too.

Sounds like Lee Fields, or Charles Bradley, or Sly Jones or even Clarence Reid... or any other 60s-70s soul. IMO, if I want to listen to 70s soul, I'll grab record from that era and listen to it. This all sounds great, but why should we listen to the copy when we have plenty of originals?
@Mirpeace93
@Mirpeace93 4 жыл бұрын
There's a point.... but also you know what's kind awkward...he sounds really gentle white when speaking but when singing words like "thing" as "thang".... hmm just seems kinda disingenuous.... nice music though.... I'm not one of those cultural appropriation believers...but geez cant he just sing as himself. Haha I'd understand if that was his accent in real life but its not
@CoolHandLukeDuke
@CoolHandLukeDuke 3 жыл бұрын
Soul music... it's a culture. If you were to say, "Thing," it throws off the who vibe... not to mention, if you were actual singers, you'd realize that thang feels more natural to sing than thing. You also can't be disingenuous and do THIS. But as you were with your hot takes.. ✌
