Lyrics:
He was always such a nice boy
The quiet one
With good intentions
He was down for his brother
Respectful to his mother
A good boy
But good don't get attention
One kid with a promise
The brightest kid in school
He's not a fool
Reading books about science and smart stuff
It's not enough, no
Cause smart don't make you cool, whoa
He's not invisible anymore
With his Father's 9 and a broken fuse
Since he walked through that classroom door
He's all over primetime news
Mary's got the same size hands
As Marilyn Monroe
She put her fingers in the imprints
At Manns Chinese Theater Show
She coulda been a movie star
Never got the chance to go that far
Her life was stole
Now we'll never know

@@TheKraah I ended up in prison due to being bullied at school. I ran into the main one in my mid 20s while working on a house which turned out to be 2 doors down from his new address. This guy pretty much physically and mentally tortured me at school (and out of school as he lived across the street from me) with his friends. He tried to bully me again, but I was a very different person at that point and I nearly beat him to death with a ratchet. I got 4 years in prison for that and it ruined my life…..I suffer from CPTSD because of that guy and his friends. What I did to him didn’t make me feel any better. I’m now hitting 40 and haven’t been able to work for the past 8 years due to PTSD symptoms, anxiety disorder and severe depression. I also had a heroin addiction as a direct result of what these people did to me all those years ago.

@@Acheron666 i hope you feel better soon❤ it's a shame they got away with it just like that and you had to be punished, even though it wasn't right thing to do either, but i understand. they really can mess up someone's life and mind.. especially when your young and have to go through something so vicious.

And yet the same thing happened to me (bullied in school) but yet the difference between us is: It only made me stronger. Now I don't take any 🤬 from anybody. 3 Bullies over a 6 year period. And they made me the way I am today. Although I'll say this. One of the 3 of them did GROW UP and admitted to me how horrible the way he treated me. And he did actually apologize to me sincerely. So at least one of them grew up. The other 2 though they are still A-HOLES. Heck as far as one of the other 2 are concerned he didn't even do anything wrong.

I was scrolling through the comments and it's crazy how many of us are going through different things in life but are somehow feeling the same.. whether its the fact that you lost somebody, you're going through struggles or fighting an inner battle, whatever it may be I want to tell you everything will eventually be ok. Time heals everything, if there's a storm in your life now just remember the sun will always come out in the end. I want you to stay positive (I know it's hard) but think about someone you genuinely and truly love, now go there and make them proud, and if they're no longer with you now just remember they're looking down on you smiling. You deserve to be happy, you deserve to have inner peace and you deserve to have a smooth life but remember we go through things in life to become the person we want to be in the end. Everything happens for a reason, stay positive and stay focused. Just remember there's ALWAYS light at the end of every tunnel, hang in there, you're doing great. May God bless you all

This song brings me back to the memory of my best friend, first friend I made in high school. It was the end of grade 12 and we were at the end of finals. I walked into school to find one of those dollarstore construction paper cardboard paper posted at the front doors with her name on it. She took her life and I still to this day don't know why. Everyone remember that those who chose to go will most likely go in silence. We must be a voice for those who had none. Rip Ashley Maria Duffenais. That was one of the hardest and most life changing times for me. I won't ever forget it. I was so bloody heart broken.

I remember the first time I heard and saw the video of this song, i was only about 6 or 7 but i sensed it was a really sad song. Today it came up in my head randomly and I searched the lyrics I could recall. The message still rings true to this day: kindness will go a long way. No one is perfect but being intentionally mean/nasty to people serves no purpose. One comment, one "joke" at a person's expense could be the very last straw that breaks them.

I never got this, I mean I love old music, I mean geez I like OLD oldies, but that's music for you, it changes. I feel for my generation because we are so closed minded, we just couldn't wait for the next generation to even grow up before we started hating them. Usually it takes decades for a generation to become this cynical. I mean who looks at a song about spoiled youth and tragedies of teens and decides that means it's the perfect time to bash teens and what they like? Forget that nonsense. Two things can be good at the same time.

I want to make a public confession here. In my Grade 9 (9th grade to you Americans) English class, we had to study this amazing song because of its anti-bullying theme. The retrospective irony of that was one of my classmates was a girl who I bullied so badly - both in and out of class - she had to change schools. I'd been bullied myself, and I was having major problems at home, but neither of those are any excuse or justification for how I treated her (and several others, for that matter). I then thought I hated her, but it took me far too many years to realise I really just hated myself, and I'd taken that all out on her. I am eternally grateful and lucky to be able to say we've since reconnected and made peace, but I still haven't been able to forgive myself for what I did and said to her then and I don't know if I ever will. I am not posting this comment to appear brave or noble or to win sympathy or pity either; I don't actually want either of those last two. I am posting it simply so a teenager in 2021 who's struggling may read it and then hopefully think twice before taking the same bullying path I did. Thank you for reading.
