@@beehappy7897 It was always my dad's "rule" to do this because he wanted those leftovers later that night. 😂 His other rule was that there must ALWAYS be pickles on the table. It didn't matter that pickles and Thanksgiving food don't really go together, there must be pickles!

I’m surprised she didn’t mention it but she has mentioned before that when she was pregnant that was the only thing she could eat and semi keep down so I could see her hating it for that reason. She used to shop at a grocery store I worked at in Tennessee I always joked that if I ever saw her I’d ask her if she needs help finding the mashed Potatoes, and I did eventually run into her but I was so shaken that the joke slipped my mind haha. I saw her twice at that store. First time I talked to her second time I left her alone cause she was with family!

In the last couple minutes of baking my cornbread, I turn off the oven, pour honey on top and leave it in there to cool with the door cracked open. The honey melts through the cornbread and is so yummy. 🤤🤤🤤

When I make mashed potatoes I use Yukon Gold! They are a lot creamier! Also I do the way my late Uncle used to make it with some parmigiana cheese mixed in, then put in a pie dish, and then put more parm on top and put under the broiler for a min until Golden Brown! It’s soo good!

We always had the canned cranberry sauce and used it throughout the year. We would eat early and have sandwiches around five or six while we played cards. And I always save the salad to put on my turkey sandwich.

My 2020 Thanksgiving Meal: Sweet potato soufflé with a praline topping then brandy flame toasted marshmallows on top/ Cajun Crawfish Cornbread Dressing/Caramel Chocolate Hazelnut Marble Bundt cake with chocolate truffles inside/Tea Cakes/Greens/ Sweet Potato pocket pies/ Lemon Curd Tart with a Coconut Meringue topping in a from scratch shortbread shell/ cranberry sauce from a can/ honey pineapple glazed ham/ Buttermilk Biscuits from scratch/ mashed potatoes with crushed hickory bacon and cheddar cheese/Glazed carrots.

From a Texas gal here Kelly's answers are on point. I love sweet potatoes and potato salad, but I don't really care for mashed potatoes that much. Also, we call dinner supper, and it's never before 5 p.m. Although, Thanksgiving meals are around 2 pm. This didn't specify it was Thanksgiving dinner at 5 p.m. though. Just said dinner lol.

I don't eat cranberry sauce. I like both light and dark turkey meat. Pro kids table. I'm a Yankee and we always had yeast rolls. Most often, it was Brown and Serve. Marshmallows on sweet potatoes are irrelevant because I don't eat them, either. Pumpkin pie! Love mashed potatoes and prefer a little texture to them. No salad on Thanksgiving! We used to travel to both sets of grandparent's houses, so early dinner and late dinner were a must. Fresh is best, but having leftovers is nice.

I agree marshmallow hot, crispy on top and creamy on sweet potatoes are good but I like mine with the melted butter brown sugar coconut and minced pecan pieces. And I prefer yeast rolls with butter to corn bread and biscuits...don't know why...biscuits are my morning food I guess lol! Pumpkin pie all day long over pecan here too...but I make chocolate cream and lemon meringue haha! I'm so unconventional...to traditional. Left out the green bean casserole with french fries onions on top 😊

Sweet Potato Casserole I think depends on your geographic location. And, of course you have the casserole vs. a soufflé. But, the recipe passed down to me by Georgia grandmother is with a brown sugar pecan topping. I refuse to eat it with marshmallows on top. It ruins it. But, to each their own. ☺️ It’s kind of like the dressing vs. stuffing debate.
