Kelly Slater asked "Retirement" Question LIVE Australian Tv Interview April 15, 2014

Kelly Slater is a man who's name alone brings to mind a string of superlatives all of which are NO doubt true is on Australian Tv tonight April 15, 2014 and he's asked some rather "interesting" questions tonight especially by Gorgi who's rather "personal" question probably would've been better asked "Off Air" as we see the results of asking a rather, I don't want to say stupid but an ill- informed personally probing and above all else a superfluous question "On Air" which was almost embarrassing to watch as a bloke who's of Kelly's generation myself, thankfully Kelly Slater's got "thick skin" and can handle such inane questions from people who clearly have NO CLUE when it comes to Surfing and who are caught up in "ageism"!
Great guy to have interviewed but a very poor interview in my humble opinion.

I don't think Kelly gets enough credit for what he has accomplished. In the surfing world, yes, but globally he is beyond Michael Jordan, Tom Brady etc. To play a top 3 sport (basketball, baseball, football) an individual has the ability to dominate for the simple fact you have a constant playing surface. The court or field never changes. In surfing you are not catching the same wave as your competitor, so to win 11 world championships in the environment that is never the same is beyond fathomable. I grew up in Makaha Beach, HI and have met a lot of famous surfers as my best friends are the Keaulana's. I have met Sunny Garcia, Melvin Pu'u, Marvin Foster, Rell Sunn, and the list goes on, always wish I had the opportunity to meet Kelly.

Slater dominates his sport more completely than Tiger did Golf or Jordan did Bball....he is literally like a Babe Ruth level superstar in the surfing world.....and never been on the cover of sports illustrated! I like his philosophy on life, and he is a great ambassador for the sport.

Reporters need to lay off the retirement question. It's so old and repetitive. If you had the chance to interview the greatest surfer ever, would you really bother with a question that has been asked so much? I''d be embarrassed to ask that brainless question.
