Seeing these makeup prices make me think about my coffee habit and how much money I spend in general. The ELF lipstick is $9, but at least I’ll be keeping that. A coffee drink is like half that price and is gone in 10 minutes 😂 just makes you think about what brings you the most joy and how best to manage what you spend!

elf used to sell that same lipstick two years ago for $4 and discontinued it. It is the EXACT SAME of the satin lippies they just had now they release these for $9. lol we are paying for the magnetic closure b/c it is the same crappy ingredients. I don;t get why they do this and fools just eat it up. It's not inflation --- that's just straight greed at this point. I love that you remind people that products can work differently on different people. I used that Milani mascara in Disney World last week, and it was perfect. I could get nice results quickly, and it never smudged, which I look for because my eyes get irritated very easily.

I really love it, too. I do understand why some people find it clumpy. I definitely use a different technique than with other mascaras. I just smooth it through straight, rather than the zigzag I do with other mascaras, and I also don’t do much layering. A lot goes on with the first swipe and more than a couple of swipes can be clumpy or make them stick together.

Colour corrector tip - I'm fair and I find that I get the best result from colour correctors when I mix them with my concealer. Glossier Stretch Concealer is my favourite and makes a great mixing medium.

I’m one that absolutely LOVES the new Milani mascara!!!!! I used it 1 time and immediacy went back onto Ulta and ordered 2 more. Since it’s a tubing mascara, I don’t think it’s meant to keep building. I only do 2 coats and stop. If I try for a 3rd coat, it starts to clump my lashes together. I love it so so much! It kicked my prior HG mascara of 8 years, L’Oréal Telescopic, out of 1st place. I haven’t used that one for over a month now.

I like the ELF lipstick. It’s pricey, but it doesn’t contain anything I’m allergic to and comes in some colors that I like. So many of the great drugstore lipsticks contain lanolins, which I can’t use. (It’s a fast way to plump my lips, but I don’t recommend having an allergic reaction to get it. 😸) I have difficulty finding lipsticks, because they’re often too warm, too brown, too light, too dark, too matte, too metallic, or something else that I don’t like.

Love the look and having your hair pulled back really put the focus on your makeup. So cute! You said how dry your skin has been. I tried a new mask the other day that did wonders for my dry skin, which might help you. The Keys Soulcare Harmony Mask with Manuka Honey. Wasn't crazy about the smell or texture putting it on, but it dried pretty quick, and flake peals off. But my face has felt so moisturized for the past two days, which is amazing on my dry skin. Also it didn't pull skin when removing. You might try it to see it out works for you as well. I wouldn't necessarily try adding any moisturizer to your skin afterwards though or you will probably be oily

I really like tubing mascara because I'm older and my eyes water a lot (menopausal symptom), esp. my left eye, and tubing mascara is a great thing for watery eyes, but I think that $14 for a drugstore mascara is over the top. I buy the Tarte tubing one when they have special sales or when Sephora has a sale, etc. Also, I appreciate volumizing more now that when I was young. When I was young I had a lot more lashes and I was into lengthening mascara, but now my lashes are so much thinner. So your preference may be related to age?

I have a suggestion for an eyebrow stencil that really works. It's Allrose Eye Stamp and Eyebrow Stencil Kit. It's $14 on Amazon, BUT you get 10 pairs of stencils, so you don't have to flip the same stencil for left and right eyes. Lots of variety in the stencils. My hair is dyed a medium auburn, and Taupe is the perfect shade for me. The stencil lasts all day, and it looks really natural. I got a set for a friend, and she loves the kit, too.

I found the elf seriously satin lipsticks to be too dry and they faded weird on me. The new elf lipsticks apply beautifully and fade in a nice way, which is a big selling point for me!

I also bought the Elf sunscreen in the TINY size…was shocked how small it is. I use the Glow Screen every single day and it’s so much better. Beautiful consistency (feels and performs like high end skincare). The Elf one is drier and has a noticeable sunscreen scent. If you can afford it buy the Glow Screen…it’s such a beautiful product…if you cant afford it buy a Kbeauty formulation.

When I watched the video of you using the elf roll n lash and the new elf whoa glow sunscreen, I knew I had to purchase those. I have the Supergoop glow screen and the Benefit roller lash mascara and I hate paying the prices for those products. These 2 elf products will take the place of those so I went out and bought both of those and I really like both of them! I like the LA and KISS color correctors better than the elf one. I usually just mix corrector in with a concealer that's a bit too light for me. Makes good shade that covers darkness without layering 2 products on my wrinkles

Makeup prices have definitely jumped up enormously. Last week I was at Walgreens and Revlon The Gloss was almost 12 dollars!!! It was shocking! Even the Revlon Colorstay Lipliners were about $12! I will stick to the NYX lipliners, Rimmel, or Milani.. CG with their revamps of their brand and jumping in on the “Clean” bandwagon.. their prices are astronomically high.. they used to be one of least expensive.. Then again high end makeup brands are pricing their items ridiculously high. Rare Beauty is one of less expensive brands they have.. With drugstore especially (Walmart has the least expensive but still the prices there are jumping too), when on sale, it is more economical..

I want to try the elf mascara but it’s not available at Ulta yet The elf lipsticks are also on my list. Many years ago I tried the Nars lipstick and when I went cruelty free Emily Fox (haha truly so long ago) had mentioned in a video that the Bite lipsticks were dupes. I loved that formula for years as well and of course now the brand is no more :/ so I hope the elf ones are nice and if they are i hope they do more colors! Do you think it’s not a dupe for Nars/Bite and think other brands have more of a dupe?

I have the Ulta brow stamp and agree it casts extremely gray. Not a fan. I did however purchase a brow pomade from nyx so I use that with the stamp and it’s a better color. Also, 5 stencils is not enough.

The LA Girl correctors are about the same price as elf and way better and more colors to suit a lot of skin tones. I also feel that to me there are no better lipsticks than Revlon and L’Oréal, many different finishes , old school but great products and sometimes you can get them in Amazon for under 5 dollars

for brands that sell in Europe I'm pretty sure there are restrictions on the SPF levels allowed. So if ELF want to sell their sunscreen it has to be either SPF 30 or SPF 50 because they're not allowed to be in between (or if it is it has to be labelled as SPF 30). That's my assumption never having seen anything other than SPF 30/SPF 50/SPF 50+ in Europe.

So in the UK the glowscreen is 'SPF 30' (although I imagine it's the same formula but they just can't market it as SPF 40.) I guess for ELF with a massive European audience it's just not worth them deliberately making a product they can't even properly sell to half their customers. More worth it for supergoop who are almost entirely American.

With any mascara, and especially tubing, a freshly opened tube may not be the best impression. Also, it is NOT buildable because a polymer tube shrink wraps around your lash. Expectations need to be managed and this is not for volume, unless you buy the OG blinc that is for volume. You need to wipe almost everything off of the brush and go from there, working quickly.

Milani’s prices are almost high end in the UK. When that mascara lands here it will probably be £20 (pretty much the same price point as UD/Too Faced/MAC /Smashbox) 😓
