I made one of these for my mother and me about thirty years ago. I used linking shears to cut the frabic and stick pinks to to put the squares into the Styrofoam. I still have Mothers but was afraid to use in case the pins came out and my cat got hold of the pin,but now I may go back and glue them in. Thanks for the great idea.

Barbara- I love the idea of using the pinking shears- it definitely will add more visual interest. And I understand about the pins- I have a little rescue pup that will eat anything she finds on the craft room floor. Matter of fact, I had to put a gate at the top of the stairs to keep her out! I was so afraid she'd choke on something. Good pet parents have to keep our pets safe! Have a lovely holiday season and thanks for watching! Blessings- Kelly

Jeanne- Thanks so much for watching! It sounds like you made this wreath exactly as it should be made. Honestly, the more time you take to add more fabric, the more beautiful it will be. I just really love how you CAN watch TV while making it. Crafts that don't demand having to think every detail through are my favorites. Thanks for sharing. Blessings! -Kelly

Cutting the fabric takes longer. I use a small Philips screwdriver, punch the hole, and fill the hole with glue. Then I fan the fabric just like you did. After my wreath is done, I spray glitter spray on it which stiffens the material and makes it great for mailing.

For your wreaths that fell and broke, maybe you could turn them into arches. I cant' bear to think that you threw that much work away! I love all your projects! Who is the " Mean Man" and how did he get his name?!!
@UnderATexasSky8 жыл бұрын
Margaret- Thanks so much for watching! It WAS heartbreaking to lose those wreaths! I never thought of trying to turn them into something else. Hopefully I won't have that experience again. The Mean Man is my husband; we've been married over 30 years. We have three dogs and when they tear things up, or eat his pizza off his plate when he's not looking, or drag his socks out of the laundry hamper he'll kind of yell at them and he sounds really mean. I talk to my dogs in annoying doggie talk and say things like "He's a mean, mean man..." (which he's not mean at all an the dogs are never scared) and it somehow just stuck. He's now known as my Mean Man. :) We're silly.

I make this particular style of wreath every year for Halloween and Christmas. However, I cut fabric in 4" squares, use pinking shears to cut material (used to kill my fingers until I found a rotary cutter). What I would like to do is incorporate deco mesh with the fabric. Any ideas? I'm happy I finally found someone who does the same thing. Thank you.
@UnderATexasSky4 жыл бұрын
Yolie- Hmm I'm not quite sure how you can add deco mesh to this style wreath since mesh is so open. I guess you could do like 10" ruffles and attach with long zip ties that can wrap around the wreath form and hold each ruffle. Then fill in with squares. Not sure how that would work, but could be cool. Thanks for stopping by! Blessings- Kelly

Absolutely lovely job thanks for sharing your talents I make wee wreaths for my home and for some friends here in Scotland they are not as massively popular as in the states but am hoping to change that because I think they just make everything nicer and just bring a smile to your face x I love the stand that is a cool idea I currently use a hook on my door.. not the best :\ New Subby x

Crafty- Thanks so much for watching and for taking a moment to leave some nice encouragement! I hope you can help bring in a wreath revolution where you live! I just love them (obviously)! agree with you and really think that having a wreath at your entry is just so welcoming. It's like the cherry on top of the sundae that is your home. The wreath stand is a really nice way to display your wreaths and it comes in so handy when making them too. You really need to see it hanging to be able to judge whether or not you need to make any adjustments. I hope to be able to continue to give you some inspiration and ideas for you to share. Blessings! -Kelly

Hi Kelly .. love the wreath ..I am going to make a Christmas one using pale blue and white with a little glitter in places ... and I think you should call it a TATTER WREATH ...as it is made from tatters of cloth ....tatter = rag .. Irregularly torn pieces of cloth, paper, or other material: just an idea :)

I really do like this wreath, but where do you suggest we get the little crochet thingy? I've never seen that tool before and I used to crochet. Tks.
@UnderATexasSky7 жыл бұрын
Patricia- Thanks so much for watching! The little crochet thingy I used was just something I found that I could poke the fabric squares into the wreath form without puncturing it too badly. Anything you can find that can poke into the wreath will work fine. Blessings! -Kelly

Love your videos. We're going to be doing this fabric wreath as a family project. I've done one for practice and it came out great! What do you put on the back of the wreath to hang from a suction cup hook or door hanger? Also, the thingy you used to put the fabric in is actually a stitch holder for knitting or crocheting. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us!
@UnderATexasSky6 жыл бұрын
Suzanne- Thank you so much! I love doing this wreath as a family project. It's so fun! I actually used an over the door wreath hanger on that door. I found one that's adjustable on Amazon that works great. And thanks for the info on the stitch holder. I had no idea, obviously ha! I gave up on crochet about as soon as I decided to try it. I'm the worst! But I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos. I love to hear from people. Blessings- Kelly

Could you use a UTC board?
@UnderATexasSky4 ай бұрын
I'm honestly not 100% sure what that is- but if it's thick enough that you can puncture into it, I would think that you could.

How do you hang the wreath on a door?
@UnderATexasSky6 жыл бұрын
Jane- I use a suction cup hook. It's the kind that locks down into place. It does a pretty good job. It will come loose every once in a while but for the most part it's a good option. If your door allows it, a door wreath hanger is a better option. My new front door is carved with lots of elements so the over the door type won't work for me. Hope this helps!
