As much as I like the idea of minimalism, I think id really struggle with wherever I live not feeling homely/cosy. I also like the items I buy representing my personality. I admire your dedication to it all because I'd give it up fast lol.
@AqilahSafia3 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people feel like minimialism means not having stuff. It really just means not having things that aren't meaningful to you. For example if having a room of collector items brings you joy then collect those things just make sure you don't own them for other reasons like showing off, or "keeping up with the Jones’s ".
@lindavel433 жыл бұрын
@@AqilahSafia True. I moved to Chicago and didn't know how long I'll stay here. So I only had a bed, bookshelf and clothing in my room. But after a while I started to hang pictures up, got plants, and pretty floor cushions. Like Marie Kondo says they spark joy. They do have a purpose, and that is to make my room pretty.
@AqilahSafia3 жыл бұрын
Linda Vel it’s incredibly freeing . My husbands in the military and between deployments and moves were not in one place for long periods of time . Being able to just pick up and go is so nice . Plus you can save money for trips and things when you’re not wasting money on things that don’t make you happy .
@bricraig54693 жыл бұрын
I definitely feel you on that. What I do is have pockets of minimalism in my life. For example I minimalize my closet but my living room is filled with plants, etc that make feel cozy. Or I exercise minimalism with my body products but my bookshelves are full because I love to read. Of course I could buy a kindle or something like that, but I enjoy holding a physical book. My advice is to do whatever sparks joy and find your middle ground.

@@Becky0494 a relationship that "serves you", people that "serve you" don't have to literally "serve you" by giving something to you or doing something for you. And yes there are people that are willing to let go before giving something or someone a chance. But I can't bash them for that, they are doing what makes them happy and what works for them. They know themselves better than anyone else so again yes, things and ppl you spend time on/with should serve you whether physically, spiritually, mentally or emotionally... someone that gives me a simple word of encouragement serves me.... I like the look of the clear, white aesthetic bedroom, but it's not a one style fits all sort of thing, and especially when you live with parents; having your bedroom be just as bland as the rest of the house (Idk about y'all but my parents go for wood, cream, and clutter free, it's so boring) sounds like torture! 😅

This apt is goals to me. I literally moved in with my husband into a studio apt when we got married (in NYC mind you so it is the size of a shoebox) and because both of our things are mixed in - it looks as if we have a lot of stuff (another thing about NYC apts is you are blessed if you get any closet space which we unfortunately have none of) when we don't & then the pseudo-clutter drives me crazy so the way Kelly did her apt/organization speaks to my soul lolol

Hi Kelly. I’m a semi retired woman who started traveling and moving a lot 3 years ago. One thing I found to help me feel “at home” in a new place is putting a colorful piece of fabric on the wall. It can be a scarf or a Japanese wall hanging. It usually packs up well and I can use same one from place to place. Also I go to thrift store and buy 5 or 6 books to stack around to add color and give that lived in look cost 10 to 15 dollars and worth it. A house feels like home with just a little color on the walls and counters. Love your channel!

I would never buy anything over $100 3-4 years ago, but after receiving a fat Reformation haul as a xmas gift from my mom I realized I have to buy higher quality clothing. I've never gone back since. When I was working two jobs in nyc I proudly spent my last dollar on a good pair of jeans which everyone loved. (The blue straight leg ones) At the end of the day I wore them to their fullest value and resold them on Poshmark when I moved for $50 to a happy subscriber. Something I should mention is that upgrading my wardrobe kind of brought me opportunities I didn't realize like being offered part-time modeling jobs because I looked put together, receiving free clothes via IG and KZbin bc I looked trendy and Princess Polly for example saw that my subscriber base was growing etc. end of essay
