This is just a quick life update video, there's more to come. Summary: I was going to hide my states because creepy people are out there, but I trust my gut and know I'll be fine and protected...and I can literally protect myself here *pew pew.* Something just told me *leave* big cities and I'm so glad I did. I'm excited to make videos again because there's so much to share. I've opened up so much, let faith guide me and allowed new experiences to happen. I love my town in Texas and love my neighborhood in Florida. I don't see myself in Florida forever but I'm so grateful that KZbin allows this extra income to play around with before committing to buying a home in either state. So thank you for always tuning in! Edit: I must mention, I was driving in Fort Worth on the I-35 minutes before the wreck happened. I just want say to not judge the whole incident unless you've driven on black ice before. Brakes seriously are no match for those roads. Yes, people were tailgating and driving like idiots still with all the warnings but these things are hard to control 100%. It's so sad! Edit: I'm not saying the south has no issues btw, I just mean you won't see a casual klan meeting at Chik-Fil-A LOL. It's not like the movies. Many minorities and lgbtqa people live in places like Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, etc. In fact, the richest friends of mine are all black and their families are based in Texas or Georgia. It's normal to be black and bougie in the south or places like Maryland. Just eave big cities and you'll see.

I am a white, southern, fifty-one-year-old school teacher who loves your channel. I am not necessarily envious of your KZbin success; I AM jealous that you discovered minimalism, essentialism, and "slow living" in your 20s. It is a joy to listen as you share your journey of self-discovery. If you are ever on I-95 South headed to Florida, I teach on an island off Georgia's coast not too far from the Georgia-Florida line. I would love to have you speak to my classes about the joys of having less. (Trust me, it will mean more coming from you Kelly, than it does from me.) Thank you again for the meaningful content.

@Tarkan Dereboylu Good catch. I can clarify that by telling you I found interest in simple jobs I would have never considered before as "enough." As long as I can put a roof over my head and have time to get outside I'm fine. I got used to aiming for jobs paying over 100k because I've only lived in big cities, but now I realize I only need ~60k to be happy. But easier said than done because I'm admittedly privileged and can afford to replace the clothes and cameras I donated while on this journey to minimalism.

You don't want a prestigious career? You're a KZbinr on track to make 6 figures in your 20s. You have near complete autonomy. That's the definition of prestigious to Gen-Z/Millennials.
@vinyasa748
@vinyasa748 3 жыл бұрын
I think she means reach the highest of prestige for whatever she’s doing. Like being an ultra big KZbinr like Emma chamberlain. I actually really resonate with that because we are always chasing the biggest title when sometimes we actually don’t want that, we just want to feel accomplished. Trying to be the biggest and best at something sometimes puts unnecessary stress.

I do make six figures with this channel and I’m so grateful! I’ll clarify what I meant and the next video. I quit my job/was going to get laid off anyway at the beginning of last year and KZbin conveniently filled that hole for employment. My intent was to go back to working a difficult job again but now that I have so much free time I value it! If youtube goes away and I go back to working ever again, it’s going to be a simple job to just put a roof over my head.

This, I think she lives in more diverse cities in the south that’s why it’s not as bad. But living in diverse cities in the south is so different from living in a non-diverse city in the south. It’s like living anywhere in Georgia besides Atlanta is totally different from living in Atlanta. Also Florida isn’t really considered a southern state, it is physically but culturally no. I would say racism in different fonts 🤷🏻‍♀️
@DebraJohnson
@DebraJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
It's not any better in the North. It's crazy to me that even after all of the high-profile racial incidents in cities in the North (Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, etc.) people think the south is the most racist. I grew up in Texas and lived here most of my life. I spent a year in D.C. and Chicago and the racism in those two cities was overt when I was apartment hunting. Never experienced that in Houston.

I think the city is good and beneficial for some people of color; and the country/South is good and beneficial some people of color it really is lifestyle choice what fits your lifestyle as a black person whose grew up in both I dont do well in the south its a much more difficult life for me I feel lost in all that space everything closes at 2am but when im in the city I have my stride I do better financially I have my fav restaurant I can get my bagel from my fav coffee shop I can walk too the friendships are expendable the s*x is expendable, the food is better in the south thats all, I have inner peace in the city the sounds of the city are like asmr, my anxiety is up the scale in the south because of how quiet it is by 10pm, at the end of the day thats what matters is the peace you have where you are but I hope you will consider staying in Europe at some point to really get that experience.

@Zaquoya Tinsley I think your willfully out of touch. But it's ok, I've met plenty who cope with the ills of America by turning a blind eye and just doing for self. I get it.. but the United States is deeply racist and the South leads the way. Been on the front lines for years now. Racism won't stop our progress but it's definitely something you have to strategize for. Reducing our fight to people who just "b*tch a lot" is kinda lame. Real people are effected daily. Especially from a health and environmental standpoint. Zoning alone exposes the racial caste structure easily. It's too easy to mention police brutality, that should be a given. But Godspeed on your journey in Kentucky. Which ironically is home to Breonna Taylor and a few more fatal and unjust police shootings of black folk. Do u tho
