You can be a millionaire yet be in mental prison, a Gucci straight jacket binding you at every turn, due to debt, possessions, stress, peer pressures, label chasing nonsense. Kelly, you are light years ahead in realizing this in your young days, even more so impressed that you DO have money to spend, yet you still see and have a firm grasp on the Big Picture and the spiral right there awaiting all of us to take the bait. So proud of you, and I dont have to KNOW you to say that - I HEAR you and old enough to be your parent. (I have a 27 year old son right here in Texas lolol). “The quality of your life does not depend on your clothes, car, or home, but on how peaceful and joyful you are.” 🙌🏽
@My_thoughts_203 жыл бұрын
I didn’t entirely get around that part yet. I believe the quality of your life depends on the quality of your relationships. However I live in a tiny apartment in New York which I love and don’t need a big one however seeing behavior of some parts of lower class makes me unhappy (making streets so messy, vulgar language, slang, people being so ignorant they play music so loud not caring about others not being able to hear their thoughts, fake nails, lashes, promoting fake anything, broke people wearing designer stuff, rudeness, street perverts). Being in a more educated ( I don’t mean school) neighborhood would make me enjoy my living situation more. How do you deal with that? Do you move? Buddha would say it’s all delusion, someone else can say the quality of your life depends on your thoughts. How do you ignore what you see? Is the issue with me being annoyed and pointing these things out, or the issue is with people acting like that in those neighborhoods.

I too have fallen victim to materialism. Since becoming engaged to a provider, (who I have no idea how I finessed into being with me) part of me feels I deserve everything this life has to offer. The other part is like "girl, do you honestly need that?". I can't win even when I think I've won. Such is life! Thank you for your honesty and creative brilliance.

Your journey to having an endless supply of Biscoff biscuits is an admirable feat! But also since the American airlines strike I learned about the wide range of pay for pilots and some of those salaries just sounds crazy!

The salaries are absolutely insane in the worst way. I know someone who gets paid 30,000 to fly for Skywest!

Heck no...to Google pay. They already know to much about me. I am not letting Google into my finance. That's too much power for any organization.

Sister I don't know if you know this or not but the property prices of lawn in rural counties is going up to the point of ridiculousness counties that are near major metropolitan cities are being bought up by people have the means and capability of buying rural properties because it's near a major metropolitan center that means you should buy now instead of waiting land value near major cities is only going to get worse with time not better you have the means to buy now why wait and if by any chance you don't want to have it you could sell it and make a tidy profit

the third reason is so me! I don’t ever want to have a car or house or pet (not until my late 30’s at the earliest) because I don’t want to have to deal with maintenance and feeling tied down by my belongings or responsibilities

Okay but honestly let's normalize renting. I hate the whole "you should own not rent" conversation. I don't want the responsibility!

I'm getting ready to move across the country and this was much needed motivation to keep reducing the amount of stuff I will be driving 3000+ miles. Thank you, Professor Stamps!
