It’s fun to watch how effortless Navarro seems to be able to play this song live. When I’ve seen him do it, he’s got a big smile on his face, shirtless, while he stares at the audience and casually walks around the stage. Too cool.

This song is EPIC !!! Kel is totally correct. The pop hits are "never" their best/ greatest hits . Dave Navarro is one of the greatest guitar players of our generation. This song is exactly a roller coaster of feelings. This is one of those records that some bands never achieve. From the first song to the last song a record that you push pay and let it go and never be disappointed.

As a guitar junkie and pretender for years now, and the years go by and all the great guitarists I love settle into my own rankings and heart felt appreciation, love and respect... Navarro, since 88, one of my favorite players ever, keeps steadily rising to the top handful of guys who's feel, chops, phrasing, melodies, for me personally....damn,..I can't find anything I don't simply enjoy hearing over and over..... As I get old and remember being 23, 35+y ago, and Jane's just exploding thru 86-90 in LA and then globally, ..having listened to them thousands and thousands of times back then and then rememberign the pure joy of 'rediscovering' them all over again every 4-5 years, everything they did in that short time was legendary. Rock Fuckin Solid . It all holds up 35y later like the fuckin rock of Gibraltar, Half dome, Mt. Everest.... I am so thankful to have seen that all happen live, to have been a part of it and to have these amazing memories of the time a bunch of kids from the valley and the streets of LA like us, locked in to each other and made music history. So Fucking Good.

Great stuff guys. Jane's was about 10 years ahead of their time. "Ocean Size" is timeless and is a great representation of Jane's. Then you gotta listen to "Ted Just Admit It" and one of their best is "Then She Did". In general, many of Jane's songs are build up and very climatic. Few vocalists are as passionate as Perry is. Not the most beautiful sounding singers, but the passion he delivers is top notch.

I just so enjoyed watching them enjoy this, and I could really see their appreciation of every little thing happening in this song, and there's a lot. My all time favorite band, and my all-time favorite song from Jane's. This song is so Zeppelin style, and it's like sex. Starts off slowly, maybe even fumbles a touch, then you get the rythm. Once those drums come in, it's ON. Then it speeds up down the road a bit, then a little explosion of...guitar. Then is slows down again (because not yet!), but it keeps that rythm. And then it slows down one more more, to let you catch your breath, and then really explodes. Or maybe that's just what I hear. 😊

Or Pigs In Zen...I actually prefer that whole album to what they later produced; just a cool vibe between Avery's bass and Navarro's guitar. OT: I found it quite perplexing when RHCP picked up Navarro to replace Frusciante , considering Navarro's heroin-drenched guitar style from Jane's was so wildly different from the Chili Peppers' sound at the time...was, "Huh? What are they thinking?" LOL I really like Starry Eyes...catch a little flak for it sometimes. From that same album I also like Red Hot, Take Me to the Top and C'mon and Dance.
@Walamonga13135 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyboyer3714 I actually think he was a fantastic pick and One Hot Minute is one of my favourite RHCP albums. And as always the B sides were even better than the actual album. Also, Red Hot is from their 2nd album :)
@jeffreyboyer37145 жыл бұрын
@@Walamonga1313 Oh don't get me wrong, he worked out well...I just remember thinking at the time of selection to replace Frusciante, it seemed a strange choice given Navarro's style vs. RHCP precedent to that point in time; funnily enough, if I had known better Frusciante's work prior to RHCP, I probably would have thought the same when he replaced the late Slovak, LOL I just hadn't heard Frusciante's stuff before that, so was unaware and he fell in nicely, able to pick up Slovak's frenetic style quite well. Of course, like most bands that endure to longevity, RHCP's music evolved to a different sound than they first introduced us in their first albums; undoubtedly due to the new influences as they progressed. And yes, you are correct about Red Hot...my fuzzy memory somehow pushed that song backward an album. My age catching up to me, maybe? LOL Thanks for the catch :)
