Matt Powell that’s interesting. There’s a few bad songs in there imo like Cyanide, Broken Beat & Scarred, Suicide & Redemption. I find the others to be too forced and mediocre against Metallica’s standards, other than All Nightmare Long and The Day That Never Comes, which are modern classics.
@ToolFist5985 жыл бұрын
@@shmick6079 See i don't think those songs are any worse, than songs like Holier than thou, Of Wolf and Man, Through the never, Don't Tread on me.... Honestly I wasn't a big fan of the black album period.... Enter Sandman is a classic but it's not anywhere close to Master of Puppets or One. Also, That was just your life might be my favorite song on death magnetic and I would put end of the line up there with the day that never comes and all nightmare long. They finally went back to the longer songs and more thrashier style of AJFA and previous albums on Death Magnetic like everyone had been saying they wanted them to do. I just think it's a better overall album than the black album. There are a lot of other Metallica fans that feel the same. I won't say most do, but it's not that strange of an opinion really.

I don't recall seeing two people having so much fun over a song. Quite a joy to watch. The song is a reference to The Hounds of Tindalos from the Cthulhu mythos, which the band have been fan of since they started. It's their third song inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's works, and IMO the best. The only song of theirs with this theme that you haven;t covered yet is Dream No More, so check that out, too. You can never really go wrong with Metallica.

It's funny how all their other Cthulhu songs (except the original) are tuned to either D standard or drop d.

Except with st. Anger, which isn't really good. The absence of solo, sound of instruments, length and repetitiveness of the songs make them harder to listen to, compared to other Metallica songs

Seriously though, way better than anything from the black album and anything after that(except maybe Atlas rise and Spit out the bone). And arguably better than most tracks from KEA, RDL, MOP and EJFA imo It's the mix that makes this song(and album) so underappreciated( I think ) Time to put Death Magnetic back into my main playlist :p

There is some straight up mastery going on in this album in my humble opinion. I love all Metallica tho even some of the load and reload stuff I would say St. Anger is probably one of the only Metallica albums that I don't revisit, just not for me.
