Actual freight trains, and not just intermodal one after another. Great video.

You are one of the great documentarians of railroading. Beautiful photography and camera work. Incredible locations over such a long time span. I’m going to have a lot to watch this winter. Thank you!!! 😊👍👍

Trains of my childhood... Grew up watching them from the back side of the house at my home in Saint-Bruno, Qc, that's how I knew I wanted to be a train driver... I do miss them!

Lake State Railroad in Michigan got a few M420's from KPR I think a couple might still be in storage but all the current road power is now GP40-2's, GP40M-3's, a few GP38m's and an SD40. It's sad to see the wide cab M420's and the few C425's sitting in Saginaw.
@roundthirteen4 жыл бұрын
@Joe Madej LSRC also got rid of the rest of their ALCO's, they leased a lot of CSX's trackage and added more SD40's, SD50's and either bought or are leasing an SD60, you may know this already.

Wow those 251 powered MLW-Bombardier locomotives sound so amazing,too bad all we have now is just more of the same,amazing footage,thanks for sharing

MLWs everywhere. I love it. That Bombardier HR616 was a real treat though. There weren't too many of those built, and they didn't last too long. I think they were around for maybe 10 years before CN side-lined them. I wonder if any were preserved somewhere?

@fmnut @fmnut I mean at 3:40 for example, that was a trio of HR616s. I know there are quite a few HR412s still around, but I was referring to the draper-taper HR616s. There are a few other clips with them in here as well.

Another question, the clip at 0:26, is that entering the town of Gaspe? It sure looks like it with the mountains (Forillon National Park) in the background across the water (Gaspe Bay)
@fmnut3 жыл бұрын
While I agree it looks similar, it's actually on the Kelowna Pacific north of Vernon along Swan Lake. Sorry it took 10 years to answer, I was just looking over old comments and spotted it.

One detail puzzles me, if I may ask you and the other experts and railfans here... Back in those days, all units on a consist could and would be spitting smoke, whereas nowadays it seems only the lead unit is doing the burning of diesel.... How's that?
@geac91005 жыл бұрын
It could be one of only two things. One, the engineer thinks his favorite brand of motor can pull the whole train while isolating the other units or two, the RR is leasing ex CSX AC6000CW units and dogging them till they burst into flames while the NS/UP units are isolated till they do so.
@tjmfishing14 жыл бұрын
@fmnut Thanks, but man does that ever look like Gaspe. I have only ever seen two videos of CN on the Gaspe as they left in 1998.
