@@ayushgaba7572 clearly said by someone who suffers from none of that -- chronic illness alone = negative energy, negative fuel, even getting out of bed or dressed can be a huge struggle. Creativity takes up a lot of physical and mental energy, if you're already at a negative it's REALLY hard. Often you have to be ok knowing you're going to put yourself in a worse hole the next day, but the satisfaction of actually doing ANYTHING positive is worth it.

Yes, the struggle is very real, but there is always hope. Dr. Joe Dispenza & Brandy Gilmore are two people who used their minds to change their energy & heal their bodies in ways they were told were impossible, and now they teach others how to do what they did for themselves. I hope thats helpful to someone out there who is suffering.

@@CaliberDawn I am with you + autism 😭 so what I have found that is making a difference for me is starting out with something I know is achievable on low energy days. That can look as “simple” as researching art concepts and inspiration then taking note mentally or on paper what I learn. (I haven’t watched the video yet😂 idk if she said this) (Edit: my bad this is exactly what her video is about🤣)

For cryin' out loud, Kelsey, this is like artist therapy. I've been a professional artist for many years now, two decades full-time. And I KNOW all of this stuff from experience. But we all become our own worst enemy from time to time and need to be reminded of the things we already know. Thanks for another compelling video. You're providing a much needed service for new and old artists alike.

One of my problems is that I have too much that I want to do. So once I find the motivation to sit down and draw/paint something I get overwhelmed with everything that I want to do so I end up doing nothing. Also, one thing I like to do when I’m not sure about something I’m working on is to just leave it alone for a few days, somewhere I can see it everyday (I have my art corner in my living room so that part is pretty easy). It usually changes my perspective on whatever I’m working on.

I find that my energy goes up and down. (if you subscribe to astrology, I'm a fire sign, so energy comes and goes) and I also feel that creating takes me 'stepping into the zone' and if my energy is low, I don't feel like I can 'go into the zone' so I just avoid it, and then of course feel bad because I'm not being consistent....I loved your energy level planning!!

Omg I recognise myself so much in the overwhelmingly scheduled 5 am person you described! 🙈 I’ve done that in intervals for years and it never works out as planned, I just hit a wall and stop everything. Last year I attempted the “75 soft” challenge with an art addition, and I just managed a few weeks and then I didn’t do anything at all for months. 😅 But I’ve learned the lesson, even though I have a soft spot for productivity videos and systems and schedules. But I really need to be honest with myself and careful about what I put on my plate. Thank you for this video, Kelsey! 🙂

Thank you, this is really helpful of my writing and to get back to it. In the past I could write really fast, about everything every day, all the time. Then, my writing block came and I wasn't able to write for years. Slowly getting back, but I feel I am so slow, mainly because if the past, when I can write 10 pages or more without effort, definitely try out that writing tip, seems achievable and no extra pressure

Another suggestion I have, if you're still stuck on the "just do it" phase, would be to just start on a little of it. So instead of a full painting, start of with a messy imperfect sketch on a post it or napkin, just something to get the idea down so that you can refine it later. Or for example, if you like to sew like me, iron the fabric one day, cut it another, pin it another day, sew it up on another day. I've noticed that moving in phases also can help make you more likely to just do the thing that you've wanted to do and get done. Kind of like using the stairs of a pool to get in at your own rate, as you go and get adjusted to the water, you get more accustomed to the water touching you and encountering it.

The perfect workplace or working method has its own journey and can be as flexible and organic as your artistic growth. While working and planning, I try new things-it's the only way for me to know what works best. For example, deciding whether to arrange my pencils in a box on the left or right of my desk; the best setup comes through my workflow, not through preplanning. I keep rearranging my workspace to suit my workflow, and it's always evolving. I don’t like making it too static-it frustrates me when it’s rigid and not adapted to my needs. The same applies to time planning or weekly scheduling-I figure out what works best by experimenting and working on my projects.

Really needed this right now to be honest. I’m very bad at not expecting too much of myself. I have the same health condition as you do (you mentioned it once in a video a while back), and boy does it suck. I’m having a hard time not feeling frustrated with my art and myself for my “bad days”. I’m going to try this, it’s not the first time I’ve heard this advice, but knowing successful people accomplished so much just with a daily modest goal is encouraging and a perspective I didn’t consider. I would love to hear more about how you manage to make art with your chronic health issues in a sustainable way.

Challenge accepted 🙋‍♀ I have been trying to figure out where my productivity levels are actually at when it comes to my artwork, and you are right that setting higher expectations that don't align with my own reality causes this sense of not being good enough, but they are expectations I set, for myself.... the motivation goes down really quickly. I like the way you've laid out the 1-5 scale and will be interested to see the video for a more in-depth breakdown of those levels. Thanks for the topic, I loved it :)

This message is so important. I'm struggling a lot. I appreciate what you do and all your hard work. My only gripe is , while I'm sure it's worth it, your book is very expensive. Seems like you are selling a course or workbook which is totally valid but it would be nice if you were a bit more transparent about that. I realize your book isn't as expensive as an actual course but it's far more expensive than an average book.

For me, it doesn't work so well to just do small things to get into the flow because there are just too many things that interest me. That's why I like it as a menu that I can choose from, three of them, and everything above that is a bonus.🙂 It helps me take the pressure off of it by seeing them as options that I can choose, but don't have to. So I only do what I like and get so much further. Sometimes a task gets in the way, like there are some interesting art materials at the discounter Aldi or Lidl, then I think about what I need and want to try out. But that only happens a few times a year, and sometimes I don't want any of it. I'll then buy a little and try it out as soon as possible so that I can get some more if I think it's great. Like right now. Or that my head is full of scenes for stories, and then I write them down. I have several in the works, some of which build on each other. If I get stuck with one, I usually have ideas for another that I can continue writing. But there are also things that I can't just stop and that can take several hours of time, such as baking a cake or trying out tea, for which I write a kind of review in order to get to know it in more detail. This is something that I need time for, and to try it out I have to be relaxed and half-rested in order to be able to do it well. It is divided into several steps. The first step is a rough description of the tea, and from then on it gets more complicated. 2. Consider steeping times and temperature, and write down the template. 3. Is to try out the tea and write down notes. It takes me 1-4 hours depending on the tea and the infusion method, which goes from 1 to 4 times. Once for black tea bags that only work well at one temperature and method, 3 to 4 times for green teas. A lower infusion temperature and a high one with several infusions and twice with little tea and longer infusion and only two infusions. This shouldn't cool down too much between infusions, which is why I do them early one after the other. It is a relatively relaxed matter that cannot be delayed. 4. Rewrite the whole thing into readable sentences and expand it a little, relax the next day and drink this tea at the same time so as not to get confused. About 1-4 hours. 5. Create diagrams for this 1-4 hours depending on the amount and how well I focus. It's pretty annoying because the template function in LibreOffice isn't enough, and I always have to move the titles and legends around until it fits. 6. Edit photos, it's pretty quick. My photo editing program has presets for this. I just have to remove a purple tint in the white balance every time because it somehow remembered it. 7. Look through the whole thing again and correct any mistakes I may have missed. 8. publish.

Years ago, I read about an author who wrote two to three novels a year only putting in 20 minutes a day. She had 4 kids. Volunteered, went to all their games, cooked, cleaned, hung out with friends. She had a full life. She said she just made sure to write no more or no less than 20 minutes day every single day for 365 days of the year. She chose the 20 minutes early in the morning before everyone got up. That became her habit. Can't think of her name (this was over ten years ago in Barnes and Noble). So, Kelsey is right, do SOMETHING everyday. Good video.
