Just recently got the gen 3 for my kid to shoot at the range. Threw a Vortex red dot on it and I was blown away by how fun and accurate it is. Zero issues after a few range days so completely happy so far.

To me, the Sub2K is like a backup for a backup. The Gen 2 with built in sights allows it fit a backpack pretty easily while having the capabilities to aim. Pretty much why I still have it because its pretty neat. Mine has a angled grip and a flashlight.

that'd require a bit of redesign. The Sub-2000 is straight blowback. There simply isn't enough room inside the Sub-2000's receiver and stock tube to house a bolt heavy enough and a spring strong enough to withstand the energy of 10mm. They'd have to design some sort of delayed blowback mechanism, which would increase cost. And that just doesn't sound like something Kel-tec would do.

I think it needs a quad lock style mount. Something that you could rotate to remove your red dot and maybe a second mount on the side to clip it back on and inline with the rest of the rifle when not in use.

Sir there is no shame with budget guns I have a whole collection of mid tier gun they work most are simply copy of more expensive guns and you can buy more ammo ..
@wilycoyote90914 ай бұрын
I like most of the improvements, but don't like that they've deleted any sights and forcing you to put an optic on it in order to shoot it. If you had a spare one sitting around then not so bad, but if you had to buy one that just ups the overall price. That was the trap with folks upgrading the Gen 2 model to get it the way they wanted it they would often exceed the price of the gun in upgrades for a lot of stuff that perhaps should have been there from the factory. I wanted to know if they are still using a plastic feed ramp since that was ridiculous design in the Gen 2, after all who but Kel Tec would think a plastic feed ramp was a great idea? I've shot a friends 45 caliber Gen 2 and it was fun, but I never thought that the Sub2000 was meant to hold up for too long and was more of a novelty that ends up spending most of its life in the back of the gun cabinet. And like you said, you're wondering why you got it and have to come up with the theoretical apocalypse scenario to give it a tangible purpose. Now the S&W FPC is built like a real rifle that will hold up for many years of heavy use, and comes with a lot of desirable features as stock equipment at bit more money. BTW: the Gen 2 came in a G19 size and a G17 size like yours, and I am assuming they continued with both in the Gen 3 and they probably sent you the shorter G19 version so it would fit G19 mags and up rather than G17 mags and larger mags.
@igortiger98624 ай бұрын
It's a very large barrel for a pistol caliber rifle, more than 10.5" is a loss of speed. They should reduce it to 10.5", it would be perfect. Introduce calibers with 10mm and .30 Carbine.
@matlilly8795Ай бұрын
I have a gen 1 in .40, suppressed... I wouldn't trade it for anything. A company called M Carbo makes kits to upgrade the parts to not-plastic, and really makes it a quality weapon. I'd recommend .40 because out of a carbine it is a deadly round, as well as inherently sub-sonic.

Skip the Sub-2000 all together and get the S&W FPC. I've owned both, the FPC is better. The Gen 3 Sub-2000 removed the slim advantages that the Gen 2 had over the FPC. Also, if you mount the Midwest Industries mount further forward, you don't have to lock the charging handle back with paricord.

Gen 2 Sub 2000s came in both Glock 17 *and* Glock 19 grip lengths. They simply stopped offering the Glock 17 grip length with the Gen 3, and along with it they stopped offering the "Multi Mag" option - an alternate mag well spec that could accept a bunch of different mag catch inserts. They made mag catches for Beretta 92, Walther P99 / Canik TP9, S&W M&P, etc mags. They've effectively condensed everything down to a single model to reduce cost.
