Keltie I have run almost every day for the past 25 years. Through heat, snow, rain, sleet and gale-force winds. I've run to win and to be loved and not to be noticed but to disappear. And, even after all this time, I still don't know whether running is madness or the clearest kind of sanity.

My dad did this for many decades. He used to come home with icicles coming out of his nose. It was his therapy and an escape from a life he didn't want. He eventually busted both of his knees up pretty badly and can only walk now. Take it easy out there. Be the tortoise, not the hare.

I'm coming to 10 years mark in a month. Started with an idea of trying to do 1 year and now it's an addiction. I wanted to do just ("just") 365 days in a row. So now I have it, almost 3650 days in a row. I can not not go. I wake up I do stuff, doesn't matter if I need to leave to work at 7 or 9 or don't have to do anything - the run must be there! I'm not saying you'll have that "problem". I know it's my personality (pretty much whatever I try and I like it, in becoming addicted to it). But, if I knew it's gonna end up like this, I think I would not proceed with that idea. Or would I still do it...? I dunno :)

I’m a proud slow runner. I’ve done 3 half marathons and 1 marathon. I trained and ran with my best friend since high school. We went running back then and couldn’t do 1 mile, and then got to 26 miles as adults. I’m so happy to hear about your judgement free running. It truly doesn’t matter what your pace is, but the only thing that matters is the effort and finding your joy in it. I definitely had to overcome my self loathing for not being fast, but then also not taking it personal when runners would say my pace was basically walking. It’s worth it to get in the running habit 💕

Do you have any tips on how to run better in general and grow endurance?
@audball217
@audball217 2 жыл бұрын
@@remigal899 when I start training for a race or just run in general, the thing I do that helps avoid injury but helps endurance, is running in intervals. There are apps that can do this for you, you just put that you want to run for x amount of time and then walk for x amount of time. If I haven’t ran in awhile, I’ll do a run 1-2 minutes then walk 30 seconds. Then as I feel like that is getting easier after a couple runs, I run longer times then still walk 30 seconds to 1 minute in those intervals. The whole time or distance is up to you. You can do intervals for 30 minutes, or you can say that today you want to cover 2 miles (for example). I get shin splints if I go too fast or if I run too far, without proper build up in my endurance. So just take it slow, listen to your body, watch videos on running form, and just keep at it. There was a point where 1 mile was next to impossible, and then I was doing 4 mile runs casually. And enjoying those 4 miles. You can absolutely get to whatever goal you have. You got this!

At the beginning of 2022 I decided I wanted to do yoga everyday that year. I broke my first long streak at day 75 and your run streak inspired me to keep going after I broke my streak. I LOVE this type of content. The emphasis on habits and the long game is so refreshing for fitness content. It can be so easy to be disheartened getting started in fitness but your journey shows what's possible when we aim to respect our bodies and get just 1% better everyday. I went from not running at all to running a half marathon in 2022 and it was such a confidence boost knowing I can do things that feel impossible if I just take a step everyday towards that goal. I watched your content a long the way to keep me motivated. Thank you so much for what you're doing in this corner of the internet :)

I started running a year ago for physio, and turned out I love it. I run 3 times a week currently, and have only cancelled runs after Freezing rain (due to safety issue). I have to say the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was still thinking of it as a run even if I needed to take a walking break. Now that I have accepted it's still running, I feel better. I'm slowly working up my distance, but focus mostly on time right now. Struggle runs are still awesome because thats still more than what I was able to do a year ago. But I agree - keep setting goals if you're goal oriented. It helps to keep motivation up.! Thanks for sharing with us!!

I’ve always felt not that good while running, I don’t love the out of breath feeling or the weakness in my joints, but then I understood what the problem was: I was running for others as others said to run, pushing myself for no reason to go at a peace that was wrong for me. So I started simply making some small slow runs part of my walking routine (I love walking), and now I enjoy them a lot! I alternate between walking, fast sprinting and slow running following my inspiration and it’s fun, it keeps things fresh and interesting and I don’t feel like dying with my heart in my throat. Sport should be first and foremost about feeling good in your body, it’s always good to listen and have fun! Congrats on your streak!!

Omg yes yes yes!!! How amazing and congratulation!!!😍 I started my 365 day challenge of doing yoga every day in March 2022 (having surgery and health issues in 2021 and being so tired of not moving), and it has changed my life too. It kick started my healing my whole relationship with exercise and movement. My boyfriend is a runner and I even asked me if he could teach me and I ran my first ever Trailrunning race in 2022, which was 7km and at that time my biggest distance ever!!! And guess what? I will do another 5km race in March and I started training for that. I am so excited and also glad that I now understand a bit more of my boyfriends passion. And he asks me for tipps on mobility and flexibility to improve his running. It's beautiful, like you said, that sense of community after all we been through.

fantastic insight Keltie. I have always loved running and picked it up again in the last 3yrs after having my second child and because of a friend who started a run group. I started slow and felt super supported by the group. One thing I will mention is at some point I got caught up in competition with others but also myself and pushing myself harder because I was trying to keep up with the faster runners in my group and it led to injury after injury. The last 8months I've slowed down and am making a conscious decision to go my own pace so that I can enjoy running again. I burned out hardcore. Running for me is something I want to continue lifelong and am happy to say I'm back on track! Amazing content as always.

I’m totally in to the road to a thousand. I tried a couple of running streaks last year but lack of childcare or getting sick screwed those up for me. I like the idea of running 1000 days, but not in a row. Congratulations! You worked so hard and I hope you feel proud and your body gets s good rest day(s) before you move on to your next goals. ❤️❤️❤️

Way to go Keltie!!!! I decided to try to work towards 5k 5days a week on days I can't run bc of life schedules I will do 12 miles on the bike (stationary), I'm not a runner either but I've done that in the past and so for I'm up to 2.6 miles (4.18k) I hope to be up to the full 3.1 miles soon. I do the 12 miles on the bike bc it's in my home and some days I cannot get out to run, it's just the way life is. I am really hopeful about my goal, I think I can do it and that's all that matters🍻☺️ this running everyday video series has been inspiring to get me running again.

probably the first and last time to watch this channel, but I really had to say that you have a perfect running form. After 2 years of running (trails or otherwise) I can only dream of having this form.| kudos.

Such an incredible journey! Thanks for showing the ups and downs of your streak. It really shows that working towards a goal is not always a straight path up and there will be setbacks along the way. You should feel so proud!

Ketie, you're my role model! I've been watching you for years and your content has become so genuine and captivating. 2022 was the year I became a runner and even completed my first marathon. You always recharge my zest, especially with running. So much love from a fellow British Columbian lady! Keep crushing it dawg!

Thank you for all the glimpses of Vancouver. I live in Paris now but grew up in North Van. I recognized every place and every bit of weather (that slippy, slushy snow, seeping into your shoes!) Kinda nice to have a little feeling of home. Congrats on reaching your goal!

Had my first run in a long time on the treadmill while watching this!! I have never been a runner but a gymnast, diver and swimmer growing up. Now that I’ve graduated and no longer a college athlete gotta find new ways to challenge myself. Starting with a half marathon at the end of the year! I love the idea of the 1000 runs 🫶🏼

i'm in! i started a 12 week challenge January 1st to run at least 1 mile a day every day...except Sundays, I decided to give myself a rest day. The best I've ever felt was when I did a mile a day February challenge a few years ago...and decided to give it another go...but I wanted to keep it going for longer than 30 days so I decided on the Sunday rest day. :)

Wow, i don’t know how I ran across this video, but you are so inspiring and motivational. I always worry about what people are going to think back in the day that was my fear, now I say “Who Care” they need to join me. I did injure my kneel about 2 years ago, and it’s much better, but I do have to wear a brace on it sometimes, but the weirdest part is that when I run my knee does not hurt and my back stopped hurting as well, so I will go get me some new shoes and go for it. Thanks Keltie....and CONGRATULATIONS

It’s amazing this video came up in my feed as I started this on Jan 1! I have done marathons etc but through covid took a break from running and focused on other workouts. I missed it so running is back in my life. Thanks for the awesome video!

I needed this, I just started my first ever run streak, just finished day 4. Funny enough... I'm an ultra runner. Even funnier... ultra runners are the most inclusive, least judgemental, most helpful segment of runners out there. I've done road, trail, different distances... I can honestly say 100% you have ultra runners pegged COMPLETELY wrong. Try a 50k, it would make a great video. It's basically a day long picnic with walking and running between eating. You can run slowly, walk as much as you need, you're actually almost expected to walk hills, and no one cares what your pace is, just that you finish. Because you're competing against yourself, the distance, the weather, the terrain... the other runners in the race will happily HELP others succeed, encouraging, giving advice, or even needed supplies. Honestly, at least GO to an ultra so that you can experience the camaraderie, THEN you can talk about us crazy ultra runners. 🤪 Loved the video, looking forward to exploring your channel.

Great content, and motivating for someone who is thinking about forming this is a habit. Your rule of ‘there are no rules’ and run a metre if that’s all you can do is a great mindset! ☺️ x

Hi! I really appreciate you and the things you said about running. I’ve always thought you had to at least run 5 k, and somewhat fast, if you were to run, but I can’t do that. So I loved watching you run a meter and still call it a run. So now I’m also gonna go for a run. It might not be more than a meter, but I am still gonna call it a run, so thx❤️

A friend invited me to run my first 5k race last year. I thought it would be fun to be able to say I ran in a race. I ended up getting 2nd place for my age group and something went off in my head that said I should keep doing this. I run about 5 to 6 days a week. Slow, fast, short and long. I enjoy it very much! All three of my children join me now too. My goal this year is to run 1000 miles!
