CORRECTION: At 25:42 I mention a four unit limit for a troop, but it's actually a limit of five units per troop as stated earlier. NOTE: If you have the Divine Will Power tile then when placing a regular action token, you may also place the gold token at the top of the pyramid to take either a bonus move or recruit action.

We usually go ahead and place the VP tokens on the tiles that would grant them to you (Sphinx and three others) at the beginning of the game. Minor house rule but it also seems to make those tiles more desired when the points are sitting on then 😜

This video is really great. I bought the game based on your how to play and watching you and your son play. Thanks for doing such a great job. I want to point out that at 24:20 when you describe Divine Will, I think your explanation is unclear. You have to place the gold marker at the top of the pyramid in a special place giving you an extra move or recruit. Using this token is a way to get an extra recruit or move.
@clintmeyer
@clintmeyer 10 жыл бұрын
***** I think you have it wrong. The gold token goes on the VERY top of the player board that has the matching gold icon. It is above the move and recruit spaces. Only the gold Divine Will token can go there. It allows an extra move or recruit. Stated differently a player who possesses the Divine Will power tile can move up to 3x in a round (or turn if he has Act of God as well), or recruit 2X. The Divine Will power is an extra Unique Move or Recruit. This is confusing in the main rules, but is clarified in the official FAQ on BGG. Checkout rule 8.1 boardgamegeek.com/thread/961339/kemet-official-faq
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 10 жыл бұрын
You're right. When placing a regular action token, you may also place the gold token at the top of the pyramid to take either a bonus move or recruit action. I'm going to add this as an update to the description. Thanks Clint!

This video is exceedingly good at explaining the rules to new players. Perfect camera work and pacing. Not even an "um'" or "uhh". Probably the best "how to play" video I've ever seen. 2 things: 1) Is it too late to enter the contest for the free game? It's only been 2 years since the video was posted, so hopefully you just are slow at picking a winner. 2) Try to find a better fitting polo. The collar looks like a halo around your neck.

Hello Rodney, awesome video. Not sure if you're still reading these comments, but I have a question: if I occupy an opponent's district that contains a level 3 pyramid, can I use my own action to upgrade the opponent's pyramid (since my troop controls the district its in) to level 4 and gain a temporary victory point? Oh, and best regards to Luke as well. Loved the game play videos.

25:42 talks about a four unit limit, but shows five units, as is the real limit, as shown earlier in the video.

Yes, that was an unfortunate slip of the tongue at that moment. The limit as taught in the video, is the correct one:

At about 17:08 you say you can enter your own city spaces without restriction (no need to stop before the walls before entering)... What if the district you are trying to end has been occupied by enemy forces? Can I still enter that district (and attack that player) without having to stop before the wall or is it assumed the enemy player used the walls to his defensive advantage and I do have to stop? Thanks
@WatchItPlayed

DTM - good question! You can enter your own city (even if en opponent controls it) without regard to the wall rule.

Exactly right. You'll find this in a note within the video's description. We work with the publisher to ensure no mistakes make it into the video, but if any do, that's where you'll find them addressed. I usually have them in a pinned comment, but I must not have for this older video. I'll correct that now. Thanks for checking out the video!

How do you recruit troops after the original phase? or is that already in the starting phases of each beginning turn??

Recruiting is an action on your player board. You can recruit once per round by taking that action. See 12;42.

when the loser of the battle has to be moved, and assuming all the adjacent positions are taken, but at least one is held by the losing party, is it an option for the player to be moved to that area or would they have to recalled as prayer points by default?

@WatchItPlayed

+Trevor Gunter This is a bit tricky to type out. You'll want to check this part of the video as it explains it in detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqPZgoqubJyVZqMm35s In short though, you don't spend prayer points to move. You take the Move Action. This allows you to move one space (other affects and abilities can allow your troops to move more spaces).

There is actually one question I have regarding the priestess power tile, which reduces the cost of all other power tiles by one. Does that mean that any tiles with a cost of one now don't cost anything? Also, do I still refer to the original cost of a power tile when matching it to my pyramid's level?
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 9 жыл бұрын
mtnetsurfer Yes, those level one tiles, would now be free, but the cost before it is discounted, is checked against your pyramid level.

Great question! You don't deactivate their powers, but they can't buy new powers of that type, for now, and you can use that pyramid yourself to buy powers of that level, if you want.

In youtube, Finding the video which introduces how to play this game is difficult. Thank you for serving us a great video. it is very easy to understand. And I thought one thing while watching the video that when each time you and you're son take a movement action, the teleportation is the only option to choose. because the action is so quick and can damage the opponent immediately. I wonder know one thing. If the player chooses the empty zone to move into instead of temple what is beneficial for the player Know I’m considering about raise a fund at Kickstarter after watching your video. And I really inspired by you teaching your son how to pronounce sphinx. the tiny epic moment made me think even angle-phone some time miss pronouns. I'm so nervous memorizing english pronouns. Lol If you can't understand what I want to ask you a question. I'm sorry about that, My mother tongue is north korean and I'm not good at English.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 4 жыл бұрын
Your English is very good, and learning a new language is VERY challenging, so be proud of what you've learned so far and keep going! Your questions is more about strategy than rules (I tend to stick to just rules), but you may want to get to an empty space to attack an army that is nearby that could be a threat to a temple you are trying to hold onto?

The tiles they've purchased retain their power. However, the oponent can buy him/herself tiles of that level while the person in charge of that city cannot, at least until the invading army is driven out. Dont forget to pick up your temporary VP if it is a level four pyramid you are occupying.
