Its a wonderful piece of kit. I put 2 Kones into an old 2x12 Vox cabinet and it sounds glorious and Stereo goodness. Much cheaper. I think I paid about £200-250 for the pair.

Running a Kemper Stage with a GPA100 through a normal guitar cab, I feel like there isn't much headroom left in a band rehearsal. However, I'd love to try the Kabinet and see if that's giving me a better tone and if the Kone is perhaps a bit more effective.
@johnnathancordy3 жыл бұрын
So I tried it on a gig where I wasn't going through the front of house at the weekend too, and I felt it probably wasn't enough headroom to be comfortable. I did another where I was out of FOH too, and that felt way more comfortable!

So John, it sounds like your cab is stereo. Is that the case? Or is the sound just that good. Also, is there a great deal of difference between the power head and the stage? The cab sounds pretty good. Great channel. I enjoy your stuff.

Sounds lush! Do you think this would handle a loud band situation? (kemper stage user) I have read that if you enable the power amp boost in the output section you should be getting enough volume to cut through.
@ethanrdrake3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I’m looking to get a stage and kabinet, just wondering if the kabinet is loud enough in a live/practice setting? Can it keep up with drums? We’re playing in small/medium places at the moment so doesn’t need to fill massive venues. Great video btw, helped me make me mind up on the Kemper 👍🏼
@johnnathancordy3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Depending on the drummer I think you could be alright. When I was going to the FOH as well as the Kab, it was plenty loud, but I did one gig with a super loud Drummer and without going to the front of house and I felt a little bit like I could have used a little more juice tbh

@@ethanrdrake I think the Kab is a better choice than any of the FRFR solutions as you'll actually be using the Speaker Imprints I imagine? The Powered Kabinet is probably a bit louder than the Harley Benton thing I was using!

You can use the Kabinet with other modelers if you take IRs of the Kemper’s corrective filters :p Kabinet’s cool! Kemper made it really easy to use like they usually do. Not totally accurate speaker modeling, all the speakers have the same bass response for instance even the 8” lol, but that adds to its ease of use charm. Looks really pretty which always helps.
@ctGONZOles3 жыл бұрын
Hey where can I find more info on how to do this. I’m interested in running a Strymon Iridium through a power amp and into Kemper Kabs but not sure if it will sound bad.
@KYDY3 жыл бұрын
@@ctGONZOles You have to be familiar with capturing IRs. And if you are, you can take IRs of the Kemper when it's in Kemper Kab mode with all the other blocks turned off, which gets you IRs of the corrective filters for the Kab speaker modeling. I've done it and can use the Kab with other modelers. If that sounds like mumbo jumbo to you, probably should look at other solutions cus there's no tutorials or anything, sorry.

John - what keeps you coming back to the Helix? I've got the itch to switch to the KPA platform from the Helix Floor and using my HX FX to augment the KPA like I do with my traditional amp rig. I'd profile the amp and then have a digital copy of the rig. You have both, and now have worked with both powered cabs... do you still prefer your Helix Rig? Or is it worth owning both.
@johnnathancordy3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike! Personally I just get on with the Helix very well. The kemper is great, but I can't say it's something I use all the time! After playing a lot of the big modellers, I've kind of reached the opinion that it's possible to get them all sounding in the same ballpark, and spending time with the platform can help you get there quicker?
@VioletMaryVideos3 жыл бұрын
@@johnnathancordy most of the gigging pros in my area are Kemper dudes and they *love* them. I was the only Fractal guy. I dumped the fractal as I was hitting option paralysis and spending too much time indecisively tweaking. I feel like I'm now getting to that place now with the Helix where I want it even simpler still. With my tube amp rigs, I don't tweak. I just plug it in, adjust volume and there's the sound. I want that experience from my modeler rig too. Love to know your thoughts
@johnnathancordy3 жыл бұрын
@@VioletMaryVideos sure the Kemper is the thing that is out there in the touring world most of all id imagine? I'd think itd do you no harm to grab a used one and see how you get on? As for option paralysis, it's still there with the Kemper, as you have 1000s of rigs/profiles to choose from, so it may not be the end of the tweaking rainbow?
