It's a good solution for small venue monitoring. I play pubs and clubs and use the powered Kabinet to hear myself, while sending the Kemper main outs to the PA. I use V30 imprints because they are the speakers the profiles I use were created with, and it most closely matches the sound to the PA. I used to use a 2x12 with my powered Kemper and though it sounded great, it sounded... different, of course. One thing you have to do to get a decent volume however is to boost the output signal in the Kemper's Output menu, and run the Kabinet flat out, controlling the volume using the master volume on the Kemper only.

Not disagreeing with you just sharing my experience with the Kemper ; Got it (used great price), overwhelmed at first for a few days, and even though I was happy with it I was still missing something… …then I randomly found a killer profile that was exactly what I wanted. It made me laugh because it was better than I expected. Since finding that profile, I learned a bit more and programmed a few things the way I want, but now for the most part… I just play. It’s that good for me. I change sounds sometimes but generally I just fire it up and jam away. I was worried it would be just something to constantly fiddle with but after setting it up with a couple good sounds, I am happy with it as is and can just play. I set some fantastic bass guitar tones on it too. Love this thing.

@@sb6232 - a big bonus for me too was the fact they added the double tracker and it’s actually well designed. My real guitar rig is a stereo setup that I use a TC Mimiq on sometimes for that wide amazing recorded album sound, and when the Kemper added it it was a huge bonus for me. Now I take profiles I love, and even though they are good as is, I add the double tracker into an FX slot and it completely changes the tone (usually in a good way to my ears). An example would be : jamming on a classic fender deluxe profile sounds great… but having that subtle double tracking so it sounds like a record is next level to my ears. I honestly have a lot of thanks for Kemper - it is a blessing for guitarists and bassists.

I made a performance for each guitar and every genre that I'd ever want to play with that guitar. I utilize all 5 channels and morphs on each performance, I have every pedal in the exact place that sounds best with each guitar, and BOOM! I get the hankering to play some funk on my strat, open the performace. If I wanna play some blues/rock on my tele, metal on my les paul, jazz on my 335, etc...I have performances that take 5 seconds to find and load up. One thing I don't understand: You made a profile of an Engl head AND oversized cab. So how do you change the speaker after that? Basicly if you change from full range (the captured oversized cab) to anything else, you put an IR over a captured speaker.
@LXHC2 жыл бұрын
you got this perfectly right ;-) and that's why these kinds of "tests" don't make a lot of sense. It all comes back to a basic misunderstanding of what profiling systems do (avoiding calling them "amps" on purpose). They don't mimic amps but the whole signal chain, including the speaker and the mic (and its position) and the console or interface the mic is plugged into. To keep the speaker out of the equation you'd have to capture a so called direct profile, which grabs the signal from a load box directly after the amp
@DISSONVNT Жыл бұрын
You can turn off the base one as well as switch it, it's not set to just that sound from the speaker as it counts them as separate things on the profile. Will it be a 1:1, usually no, but there are many variables to this. People forget there's also DI profiles of just Heads, same as profiles of plug-ins, it's simple if you have a Kemper on hand.

Trying to firgure out the difference between a great emulator and a real amp now days is a real waste of time. The tech is there now. Could you tell the difference if you didn’t know there was a comparison being made?

I don't really get what the difference is between Kemper's "speaker imprint" and regular IR's. Is there really a difference? I could imagine that the Imprints are not actual recordings of speakers/cabinets, but instead emulations that are created by their capturing AI software. Not sure though.

celestion did the imprints as well as Jensen. it is the same as an IR. kemper don't run IRs in a traditional way.having that said you can convert your IRs through the Kemper Cab maker app then load them onto the kemper unit. The whole imprint thing is to give the Kemper user that amp in the room sound and feel, that's why they made it. problem is they should have done at least a 2X12 cab for that imo, with the option to go to a 4X12 Cab. They may in the future, who knows? Personally I run my Kemper into Mesa Dual Rectifier roadster. KEMPER Monitor Out---->Effects Return on the Mesa Dual Rectifier---->(and turn off the cab block on the Kemper) Then into your 4X12 or 2X12 cab of choice, in my case my Mesa 4X12 loaded with V30s.
