wow! I really like this. I've never seen kusarigama used outside of movies and stuff before.

The weapon is a chigiriki, and they tie that to hold the sleeves of the keikogi back

Just to put in perspective how difficult it is to use chained weapons like they are, the Society for Creative Anachronism actually bans the use of flails and similar weapons in mock combat because it's too difficult to use them safely. The fact that these guys are able to take having a chain wrapped around their NECK and thrown around without getting their neck broken tells you just how good these guys have to be.

don't know if it's from the same school but I saw this interesting demo of an assassination technique with an offering of tea: Samurai Assassination Technique - Araki-ryu Kenpo: San no Kyoku no Kata

shaddupyebrat Completely different art. This is a Japanese Koryu system, not a modern take on karate, and the name (Kempo) here refers to "sword methods".

Please someone (preferably someone practices kempo) can answer: I thought kempo was an unarmed martial art and was similar to boxing. But they only did armed katas why is this? Were I sooo wrong or just had insufficient knowledge? Thanks in advance for answers.

Can some one tell me why they are doing the finisher so slow like 4:43 he clearly could stop him with his other hand or try to and 5:54 he just let him get it around his neck not tring to evad it same with 5:18 why did he try to hit the mans weapon like why not change your attack to counter his block i dont't know much about this but why are they fighting like this plz tell

those are not impromptu fights. These are forms that are passed down since old times and they demonstrate some possibilities, situations (probably most common ones) that might occur during combat also those are not to be demonstrated at high speed since it is dangerous.

A) these are kata, practiced like traditional dance. B) they are performed at "safe" speeds. C) SCA are not supplicants to a koryu tradition.

its because its a demonstration and when you show things like this to people who dont have a lot of knowledge in this you need to do it slow and show what your doing + in some parts they could really hurt each other if they would have don it fast because dont forget thees weapons were used to kill and injure
