Ken and Frank Shamrock the real sibling royalty of MMA, Frank was my biggest MMA influence and but Ken is arguably the greatest of all the original pioneers of MMA
@kainenmorden7 ай бұрын
Frank was way more well rounded and the prototype for the modern MMA fighter, he had skills everywhere. Another thing that perhaps isn't as big of a deal because a lot of guys weren't as well rounded back then but he'd beat guys that had huge weight advantages. Both brothers were great tho, no doubt
@alanguages6 ай бұрын
100%. Frank was able to transition from stand up to ground and fight in either environment. Even his training was to do both, by bringing in guys like Maurice Smith as a striking coach. Although Marco Ruas was able to do both, but seemed uncomfortable and difficulty with the transitioning from one to another during a match. Unlike Frank.@@kainenmorden
@kainenmorden6 ай бұрын
@@alanguages I'll also note, frank was very dangerous off his back, many were not like Coleman, Kerr, Ken, etc. but their game was to be the bigger, stronger guy and take you down and gnp or work a sub, when they couldn't do that, that's when they'd get beat though Kerr did have some stand up as well. Frank lost some big fights but also gave up a lot of size/was just getting older in many of his losses and fought some guys who are legendary in their own right like Tito, Nick Diaz, etc. etc.

@@kevinsullivan2362 More of an "outside of big cities" thing than a "western US" thing TBH
@kevinsullivan23626 ай бұрын
@@RyTrapp0 No. Driving hundreds of miles at a pop does not typify East Coast culture because traditional life was more localized with smaller distances between urban centers.. In the West, it is much more common because there are vast distances between places, and before the late 90s cheap air travel, people drove those distances. Its a part of their culture.

That's how a lot of us look in the Valley/209 area because we're all so mixed. The valley ( Sacramento, Stockton, Manteca, Elk Grove) love mixing it up when it comes to dating. Its even more colorful now. I knew so many mixed black kids who spoke Spanish but just looked black, a few white kids who knew Japanese and Vietnamese because of their mom and dad but they looked straight up white. Siblings who looked nothing alike until both parents where near them. Very beautiful. I knew they weren't because my dad loved Ken and I knew everything about him growing up.

Ken Shamrock was born Kenneth Wayne Kilpatrick in Georgia. He has 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Kilpatrick. They all moved from Georgia to Napa Valley California. Their southern accent got them into all kinds of trouble. A knife fight in back of a 7/11 by Redwood Middle School along with other fights separated the brothers into group homes. Bob Shamrock being the group home that Ken would grow up in and later on coach him through his MMA.
